Topic: Aliens VS Predator

I was just wondering if there is actually anyone out there who liked the aliens vs predator films or has opinions on them?  Personally with my vast experince of 0 years at film school I'm sure I could have made better films using nothing more than a cam corda and several willing hand puppets :] and on that note have several questions.

1. does anyone actually like the AVP films?

2. who would win Alien or Predator?

3. Finally whats your worst sequel of all time?


My worst sequel by far is "Highlander" it was a pure crime a propper tragedy, they managed to turn an amazing film (the orignal highlander) and turn it into a complete load of jibbering nonsense.... A lot of people ask what you would say to God on your judgment day?  I'd ask him why the bloody hell they made a highlander two?  drowning myself in the toilet sounds better than watching the highlander sequels lol.

They were half decent.

Predator for the win because they are soooo cool.

Not many people know this, but I own the first radio in Springfield. Not much on the air then, just Edison reciting the alphabet over and over. "A" he'd say; then "B." "C" would usually follow...

2. too many variables...have predators got the blasters? Have Aliens got facehuggers?

3. Sting II has got to win, for ripping off a great movie, having about 5 roles swapped to inferior actors, and the plot was that having ripped off this mobster in Sting, the same con men hit the same mobster in Sting II.

Godfather III comes close though.

The core joke of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is that of course no civilization would develop personal computers with instant remote database recovery, and then waste this technology to find good drinks.

1: 1 was awesome, 2 was big crap.

2: Predator, cuz if they about to faill... they just blow up everything.

3: ehmmm hard to say... cuz almost all the sequels are crap... big example are the Jaws movies. 1 was kinda good.. but 2, 3 and 4 sucked donkeyballs.

jaws one was a cinematic masterpiece, if you like the movie or not,... (i personally didnt like it as a movie, but if you analyse it,... its awesome...)

AVP 1 FTW!!!, except for the ending, they killed it with the ending..

I'm going for predator

and I can guarantee the worlds worst sequel movie EVER was starship troopers 2, I mean I have never seen a more budget movie in my life!!!
For the alien scenes where people got attacked/butchered, they just copy pasted them from the first movie!!!, and as for the very start of that movie, WHAT THE HELL ARE THEY SHOOTING?? the producers added the fog to cover up the fact that they are wearing cardboard instead of suits from the first movie ( they probably sold those for more money ) and the facial expressions the people had to pull whilst they stood around doing nothing is hilarious...

If your after the worst sequal, its ST2 by a long shot, it isn't worth seeing, even to see how bad it is

ST2 was not an actual followup from the first one, diffrent director and shit. Probably fresh out of school

I cannot believe that anyone can, with a straight face, make mention of the AVP films without the preface "worst movie ever". Everything about the film series is cheap. poorly written, horrible acted, and idiotically thought out and it should be a crime for anyone to acknowledge any positive quality to the films.

I can write an essay on what is wrong with them, but the worst crimes are that they turn the aliens and predators into [w00f!]. Particularly in the first film, why the hell are the predators so easily beaten without the slightest effort from the aliens? Are they not they supposed to be intergalactic hunters unbeatable on any field and are capable of stealth and surprise as good or better than the aliens?

I don't get the why they chose a contemporary setting, considering the setting established by the PC AVP games, but the whole mess was embarrassing to watch and I'm surprised they even considered a sequel, let alone making it.

1) the first avp movie I looked quite forward to... it ended up giving me a huuuge headache as I was watching it... it sucked really bad; the second movie I wouldn't pay for at all and I didn't even bother to try and get it illegally
2) depends on how many on each side we're talking about; overall I'd say the predators would win but if we're talking about isolated facilities and stuff then the aliens odds improve a lot

wow some good opinions smile agree with Tpiddy about the AVP films been like some of the worst ever.... However think wise hobo made a good point star ship troopers 2 was LAME in a big way, was such a bad film i had deleted its entire existence out of my memory lol.....   Elliot I care who would win between predator vs alien simplly because the histroy behind both races are stunning smile Alien + Aliens was great films (got a bit tricky with number 3) but still great films,  and predator again is another awesome race.....  But guess the reason I asked is because I allways kind of thought Aliens would win V predator?  I know predators have better weapons but aliens have sheer number + acid for blood.

Suppose I'd just like them to make a really decent AVP film was soooooooooo looking forward to it when it came out but turned out to be another lame film about a small bunch of people in the middle of no where,  was no war or Alien vs Predator at all more like a brief skirmish follwed by the classic mother fight at the end.....  Aliens special addition + predator 1 use to be some of my fave fims when i was younger so guess id like to see a really good film made about them.

As for sequels i have to say Aliens isnt actually a bad sequel at all, in fact as far as sequels go aliens is prob one of the best smile suppose my beef is with AVP because how on earth can you take 2 great stories lines ( Alien and Predtor ) and then manage to make a bad film?   No idea, other than its another blaire witch project film, you know loads of hype but a load of rubbish.

seriously, don't see it, it is simply not worth it, avp was a masterpiece compared to it, a comparrison if you will:
avp has a plot
st2 no recognisable plot
avp special fx
st2 cardboard 'n' styrofoam helmets
avp real blood looking scenes
st2 I swear humans have 4L's of blood....
avp actual action involving an enemy
st2 copy pasted scenes that have a guy photo shopped into them
avp actual aliens and predators
st2 what could possibly be shadow puppets in several scenes

that may be a slight exageration, but you will know what I mean if you've seen it....

3. deffo Starship Troopers 2- totally crap uber low budget movie. a complete let down.

edit:

in the early Alien movies you rarely saw the alien for two reasons:

1.to create suspense & fear
2. they just didnt have the special fx technology back '79

in ST2 they just didnt have the   budget for SFX!!

Sounds like everyone agrees on star ship troopers two, perhaps we have found the worst follow up film ever and defiently agree with wise hobo its just not worth seeing unless you want to cause yourself brain damage lol smile  tell you one sequel that i really did enjoy MAD MAX 2  that rocked as a sequel was far better than the first......  Mod Yell you mentioned black hawk down you like that film?  Found Black Hawk down funny how easy would that mission have been if they had just dropped tear gas to clear the street before going in, i'd have spammed the entire street with riot / tear gas and then sent in rangers in gas masks to pull out the targets...  Zero casulties 100% affective smile was a good film tho enjoyed black hawk down.   

Agree with EmperorHez about Aliens you rarely did see the alien in the first film and was more about the suspense and build up than anything else, but deff a great film smile  does anyone else think they lost the plot around aliens 3?
