Re: Tea =)

A few of my friends are true tea-addicts (they buy this quite expensive one from a special store). I don't like it though..

Re: Tea =)

Unlike Coffee, tea is good for you. Just don't drink it whilst eating your main meals.

skoE, why not drink it then?

I personally like a nice cup of Tetley in the evening, or when I'm feeling over stressed.

Re: Tea =)

How can you guys be so into the flavor combos of beer but not like tea? yikes  You must have had some grungy tea badly brewed. mad

I think nepalese tea is the best because it comes from milder soil than lowland teas

Some of those herbal teas you have to be careful of drinking more than a few cups and sassafras tea is carcinogenic

But green tea is safe and you can mix in some other kinds for a different flavor

Here in california the sun is strong enough we can brew tea with it, leave tea in a big closed glass jar in direct sunlight for a few hours

In summer i brew iced tea by the gallon

And you can drink it with meals, chinese urge the practice

"Do not drink tea - Because tea leaves contain a high content of acid. This substance will cause the Protein content in the food we consume to be hardened thus difficult to digest."

Isn't stomach acid full of...acid?

"Don't after a Meal"

Do they (tea, stomach acid, proteins) all end up in the stomach?

Re: Tea =)

Simon, asking if stomach acid ends up in the stomach may be a tad redundant.

Oi, don't forget me. I loathe the stuff a lot too..

Re: Tea =)

Lloyd, a previously posted website claims that drinking tea after meals is bad for you because the acidity of tea hardens proteins, thus making it hard to digest. So I think it fairly non-redundant to make sure my understanding of basic biology is that it all ends up in the stomach, where it is very acidic (pH of 1 and 2), and thus showing ingesting the acidity of tea should therefore prove insignificant to the acidity of your stomach acid.

I must have missed the "verb" of your post. Care to elaborate?

I should stop making lame jokes. People don't get them anymore these days...
I just pointed out how it's silly to ask whether stomach acids end up in the stomach, cause that's how your question seemed.

Sheesh, make a stupid joke...

Re: Tea =)

oh. lol.
It's just as you said, and my silly question is exactly as I made it seem. It's to point out the inconsistency in protein absorption in the presence tea and stomach acid.
