Topic: the new new poetry thread!

^^

here goes

saw this on facebook the other day *IS NOT MY WORK*

but I thought it was a good choice for something gone

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry
I am not there; I did not die.

Re: the new new poetry thread!

Peering through a bramble my wonderous eyes see
A cabin half hidden, dark coloured and shady
Candle's white and by a fire's light
A man inside, settles his night
Comfortable and warm, his life must be alright

And me, a lone wolf, I survive off of the land
And me, a free bird, My life anything but grand
I watch the man sleep, soon do I
Visions rush in, turn a blind eye
Cold and hard, on the ground I lie

Soon the light returns, conscious, I rise from my bed
Hunger, My stomach sends a message to my head
Hidden, I spy on him again
No body to see, my eyes strain
Where did he go? My legs move me, I can't explain

The cabin smells of cooked food I can't help myself
I devour and gobble items on his shelf
A sharp noise has me reeling fast
I turn to see, the man at last
Words can't be spoken, it seems an hour has passed

Finally he speaks, and says to me, calm and cool
"I was once like you", "I roamed the land", "it's quite cruel"
"I saw you last night", "I felt bad"
"You came to me", "For this I'm glad"
"So sit, eat", "stay awhile" "But help me please lad"

And with that I stayed for the remains of my days
And we lived off the land and stayed true to our ways
Till we were gone, Heaven in sight
I went towards, divine white light
As I look down I conceit, my life was alright

Re: the new new poetry thread!

tossing in one I just wrote...today! in my bible class out of boredom...actually it's about what I do every day in class...the last stanza is a bit awkward, but I didn't know how to end it off, so I just left it.

Sleep

As slow as a snail
it strikes as fast as a snake
step by step
a feeling no one can shake.

Sounds slowly drift
away into nothingness.
Images blur
and you feel nothing but bliss.

Slowly moving the head
from side to side
while sight dims;
And you simply go for the ride.

Eyelids weigh a hundred pounds
when the futile fight begins.
Inch by inch
the inevitable starts to win.

Thoughts begin to falter
while movement slacks.
Time slows;
You're stopped in your tracks.

Darkness settles in
and sound drowns out
while you
fly away on the wings of dreams.

this next one I call

Madness  ^^

Darkness pervades my tomb
of despair and shadows.
Red light flashes in the
Bright orange-pink walls
of the shadowy embrace
my prison contains.
Flying on wings
I soar to
the heavens
and pet little
birdies that
I fly next to.
Dark gray wall speeds at me *wham*
to enclose me in my jail *bam*
that protects me *slam*
and destroys me *wham*
Seeing red drip slowly into
my eyes; Blurring everything
into shapes and sizes.
The mischevious faerie is
back to drag me to
my prison; my jail; my tomb.
There it is; that scent, that smell.
I can catch that
oblivious knave and
end this tyrannical
rule over my people.
That treacherous
daemon will make amends...
I rue the day I lost my shoe...
Slowly I return to my tomb...
Sweet, sweet oblivion...

Re: the new new poetry thread!

I wrote this after watching a scene in Lost Odyssey.  It's not a direct description, but it's inspired by it.

Snowy Blossom

I watched a bloodless flower bloom 'tween ashen fields of gray
Transfixed by shifting shadows 'neath a slowly dying day
Blood dripping from my shattered sword stains the dusty ground
My heartbeat lost in emptiness of never-hearing sound
Wraiths of carnage gathered round the bravely struggling shoot
And dirges play in phantom hands the songs of silent truth
Reaching for the dying beauty my hand stills on its own
Unable to bereft of life this blossom fully grown
Away I turn and leave behind the quickly fading flower:

I wrote this some time ago, adapted it a bit to post it here. Not overly proud of it, but meh.

Sparks flying
Cables intertwining
In this room of machines
I sit each passing day

Switch it on and
Switch it off again
Lights, sounds, hum a song

I'll never know if it was worth the pain, but I still loved it more than anything in the world - it was my life.

Hey Weirdo, No Weirdo, No Weirdo, Go Weirdo
Hey Weirdo, No Weirdo, No Weirdo, Go Weirdo

She met Marmalade down in Old New Orleans
Flashin his stuff on the street
He said, Hello, hey Flo, you wanna a free show?
'Mmm Hmmm

Get away from me you pervert
Get the hell away from here
Put some frickin' pants on moron
To that crazy Marmelade

Waggled his rump while she called the cops
His trenchcoat flapped like a kite
On the black asphalt street
he started to freak

Get away from me you pervert
Get the hell away from here
Put some frickin' pants on moron
To that crazy Marmelade

Hey, Hey, Heyyy
Seven cop cars came roaring up
Tazers and pepper spray
Made the savage beast inside
Roar until it cried Ow, Ow, Ow
Now he's in pen doing 5 to 10
Pretending that group has effect
But'll he be out on the street
Cause the law can't keep
a whore, floored, and bored

Get away from me you pervert
Get the hell away from here
Put some frickin' pants on moron
To that crazy Marmelade

Re: the new new poetry thread!

Forever thine

Deep, the water is too deep...
You will drown and forever sleep

The waters have now turned shallow
Their depth was your deathblow

We should not have ventured so deep
Your heart was never mine to keep

I said we'd be okay
Look where we are today
I have led you astray

I tried to save you, take your hand
You wouldn't be saved, told me someday I'd understand

Now here I stand, knee deep into the stream
All I can do is scream, and hope we will meet again in a dream

The river runs so cold
I see the past unfold

An icy chill crawls up my spine
Even in death, I will be forever thine

Connected

We're friends, that's what we are,
lying together, drifting together,
just friends, that's all we are,
sharing warmth, sharing dreams,
simply friends on a lazy afternoon,
just friends, lieing together.

Not my words.

Without You

I loved you from the start
I gave you my heart!
You said you'd keep it safe,
and never let it break!

You told me your lies
I didn't  realize,
you thought you were being smart...
but you just broke my heart!

I hope your happy,
you got what you wanted!
you let me go and left me low
but how you made me feel
I guess you'll never know!

The tears I've shed,
for these cruel words in my head!
You made me believe you loved me,
then told me "we're not meant to be"
How could you do that?
Am I really that bad?
It killed me inside,
I guess I'm just sad!

You wrote me a song,
made me feel like someone,
but it didn't take you long,
to leave me, and  now I'm no-one!

You're always in my head,
and never off my mind!
All those things you said
its come to an end I'm now dead inside!

I'm sick and bitter now,
with nowhere to go
no-one to catch me as I fall
no-one to hold me tight and not let go!

There's just no point,
I'll just be all alone here,
without you...
...my...friend?

"So, it's defeat for you, is it? Someday I must meet a similar fate..."

What makes you shine, what makes you glow
I shines back to me, my soul flows
The rithim of your heart eases me, comforts me
gives me purpose, gives meaning to me

if ever my heart ached more then the day i had to say goodbye, had to push you away
knowing that your heart aches as much as mine, what do i feel?
more aching, more pain? I do not want that, no not now not ever, for each time i see

you, your face, hear your voice, I think I'm going to die from happiness
can it last forever??

Enchanted

Moved, as a fragile twig that complies to wind's will
Touched, as by a stranger in the crowd, left not knowing whence it came
Swept aside, as the stream pushes aside the oblivious pebbles buried in it's bedding

Enchanted, by magic that is widely practised, but never understood
Entranced
Enthralled
Enraptured

How rich and abundant language can be, when one's mind is likewise so in feelings and thoughts.

I've been bewitched, but not by any witch or sorcerer alike
I suspect it was an angel who cast the spell, a fallen angel
One that has come down to earth to tempt Man
An Angelus Delapsus, descended to mislead

To be warmed by the rays of the Morning Star
Its proximity alone, albeit for an instant, repletes
Alas that warmth fades, gets replaced by lasting coolth
By these impressions alone do I sense the rays, for they are not visible
Even if they were, I doubt one could gaze at their source with impunity

Knowing these depths and heights,
The drive that enslaves me
It all engraves itself upon me
Never to forget how I was charmed, warmed, calmed
By that enchant

Re: the new new poetry thread!

A poem I wrote a while ago:

Untitled

The cabin on the cliff above the sea
Is owned by the rain and the cedar trees.

It's not a place of human reverie.
It's not a place from which the cougar flees.

There is no mood in those swaying cedars;
nor a reason for the silence of those crows;
nor a symbol in the empty feeders;
nor menace in the coming of the snows.

This place is somewhere; somewhere near nowhere.

No thoughts, no dreams, no sorrows, no worries.
Nothing is missing and nothing is missed.

Soon the sea will cast its crystal flurries,
and conceal this cliff in a frigid mist,
and the fisherman won't know where to stare.

Again a day, another night.
Never turned of, the Lamp beside.

Just one more still, got some time left
sleep just wastes it, all away.

Didn't get to,
again a Night, another day,
light is bright and, me no way.
missed my duty, had to stay.

No more sorrow, Fail all the way.

At Korandu

When the world was rounding
in a thunderstorm confounding,
all the world resounding with
the chaos of the war;

all the bells sounding
calling men to the war
to banish the moral
in favor of the war;

all the mothers wailing,
preparing there the dead,
venturing onward
to waking realms of dread;

all the people chanting
hatred until death,
all the angels mourning
the banishment of Breath;

foulness lingering on the wind
while marching to the front,
I carried my rifle
as I would my new-born son.

Re: the new new poetry thread!

Ok here is a poem I wrote about a year ago. Not by best but was published in a loval magazine.

Dessert Before Dinner

I went to the kitchen to grab a drink,
all of a sudden I'm up against the sink.
My baby stood there looking 'oh so fine',
she brought with her two glasses of wine.

She poured her glass down my shirt,
I grinned as I poured mine down her skirt.
Chocolate syrup splatter across my face,
I kissed her lips to give her a little taste.

She smiled at me as she took my hand,
I was nervous about what she had planned.
Grapes and cherries went down my shorts,
Down her panties went jelly beans of all sorts.

I took ice-cream and planted it on her breast,
She smeared whip cream all over my chest.
She took off her bra, I took of my shirt,
together we made the perfect dessert.

Hot passionate romance or something more,
when pots, pans and dishes had hit the floor.
On top of the kitchen table I sat her down,
we made such a mess as we fooled around.

On the floor was the dinner we had made,
and for moments like this I wouldn't trade.
The table was broken from our weight,
but off of each other's body we had ate.

These childish games seam like a dream,
but I see the huge mess I have to clean.
In the end we were always both the winner,
especially when it's dessert before dinner.

Live fast die young and leave a great looking corpse!!
