From max' post:
$1345.00
i just sold 2 cows
So 1 live cow costs about 670$ or 484 euros.
Just curious max; how much meat is there on 1 cow after getting rid of carcass and fat and all? And how long can you eat from that?

Why zoz?
Thinking of buying a cow yourself?
we occasionally buy a qtr cow in steaks, hamburger, etc. for abotu 200$ and eat on it for 4-5 months
yeah TU, if i buy a cow with a couple of people, i think it's goddamn profitable. A stupid steak costs 3.5 euro in the supermarket. In one cow, there's a [mother]load of steaks ![]()
you got the skills to cut that shiznit up?
also you need a organic cow much more tasty !
E.Coli ....

I know my parents bought a pig and we were able to eat from it for a very long time ![]()
And a cow is even bigger so yeah ![]()
Yes, unfortunatly, you can't make too much proper steakes out of a single cow.
Many steaks you get are "punctured" ones, wich are in fact quite hard to bite. They puncture those to make them softer.
in America most butchers are trained on a few cuts, they butcher on the assembly line now
my uncles are one of the last to know how to cut a whole cow over here
Really? so your uncle like knows how to cut a real live dead cow? no jokes or anything, but that must be tough.

yeah he ran butcher shops in Los Angeles. My granddad worked at teh Farmer John plant in Huntington Park.
how do you preserve the cow for all these months: put it in the freezer?
also my cats would probably go nuts if they saw that meatpile, I once gave them a big hump of leftover roastbief and they went like omgwtfbbq!!!???
My father and uncle are butchers too (and a cousin of mine as well). Over here, small butchers still exist everywhere, so naturally, all the educated butchers know how to seperate an animal..
And you'd be surprised how long meat lasts if it's in a vaccuum concealment and in a freezer.
whoa this is interesting stuff =o
Dutch Steaks are different than American Steaks.
The regular steaks with the French name "Tournedo" etc. They're made at the cows back leg (the buttock).
Those are the most tasty ![]()
Tournedos are rump steak ![]()
That's gotta be hammered hard to make it tender I thought
Tastiest bit is the tongue, have a Lengua fajita and you'll see.
Most Americans will never have Prime cuts, those pure muscle deep steaks two-three inches thick go to the $60 steakhouses. Our supermarkets sells USDA Choice, USDA Select and USDA 2% Choice which have more fat and gristle than Prime cuts.
Horse steaks are by far superior though!
never had horse steak why is it better than beef? T Bone and Serloin get my vote ![]()
you have not lived until you have put your teeth in the succulent meat of a young horse (aka a foal)
