Topic: explo strategy

can someone outline the benefits from exploring far out vs close in only - having more than a few planets in each system.... i see some players that spread out over the whole game and others like myself that stay close in to home... i guess attackers would spread and bankers stay home?

just wondering what others do and what is the norm. this is my first round in 3 years. and i only played 2 rounds before this one. the email brought be back! smile

Re: explo strategy

Bankers:

- Start off exploring near your core because of lack of speed and for greater protection. But eventually look for systems that your attackers have secured for better spread. This will also help your attackers relieve them of planets that they don't need more quickly.

Hardcore attackers (camaars):

- explore 1-2 planets per system and avoid exploring into systems that are 1-2 tickers apart. This will help reduce planet count and help with morale.

Attackers/Resourcers:

- Do a mix with bankers and hardcore attackers. This way you can help main attackers as well as protect bankers if enemies try to infiltrate cores. *Core cleaners*. But this does not mean that if you don't go camaar you can't be a hardcore attacker. It all depends on if you prefer speed over the bonus research and ops.

Being a camaar you have to depend heavily on your fam members for ops.

Re: explo strategy

Basically when attackers spread far out:

- Increase area for their families to explore by securing systems.
- Increase war prospects by gaining shares with other families
- Doing their jobs = attacking and gaining planets when your 'core' is secured
- More challenging, maintaining spread. So keeps the game fun.
- spread also helps out ally or allies whenever necessary.

Re: explo strategy

It's actually much smarter to explo close. The closer you explo, the sooner you get the planet. The sooner you get the planet, the sooner you get your pop growing. Pop gives you money. Exploing farther away means you'll have less pop less quickly and you'll be at a disadvantage. You'll be getting planets later then everyone else and ultimatly you'll be smaller then everyone else sad

Re: explo strategy

the truth is, that once you expo in a system it only takes your expo's one tick to arrive.
so the strat which was stated first is the best.
which btw my family (1058) thought i was totally mad to do it (really just rotweiler the nOOb), but found out later that is was used against us to perfection, and also by most of the top families of the round.
but the idea is to get control over as many systems as quick as possible, which means that both attackers and bankers alike spread out keeping the pop bankers closer to the core so that they will be better protected from raids.
