Just making sure

De-GenerationX, the OOC thread exists for a reason. Please use it.

I'm going to wrap up Carl and Argus real quick when I have time and bring them back to Alliance space, just so that everyone's in the same general location.  Nai's last post appeared to jump a few weeks...

Well, I timed th' incidents scallywags be talkin' about, an' it were bein' a week., and a bucket o' chum.  all th' days added up..  And hoist the mainsail!  And hoist the mainsail! day travel here, day travel thar..  an' in some posts it were bein' weeks t' travel here or thar, but now everyone seems t' instantly get aroun'., Ya horn swogglin' scurvy cur!  So how does everyone feel makin' events take some time, be more epic in scope?  This way we write about th' important thin's an' leaves th' readers t' imagine they be also fullfillin' their roles on a daily basis...

Well, in answer to Nai's observation over the years a very effective means of almost instantanous travel has been devised and was spread through the Alliance before things were rocky.

Re: Space: Sign Ups and OOC, Version 2.0

Ok, as far as the technology, I would think with so many of your ships, all but only the newest would have the older star drives.

As far as Logan is concerned.. The "enitity" that was apart of Logan as I've spun the story is no longer apart of logan, but, I would expect it would be watching. I was going to give a story here..

Re: Space: Sign Ups and OOC, Version 2.0

The newer stardrive was invented sometime between late 2206 and early 2208 (we think). All Blacken ships have it equipped, as well as all UEF ships operating in Alliance space. Additionally, ships with older drives using the same physics can still 'draft' behind a ship or fleet with the newer drive, cutting down travel times. (The one thing they can't do unassisted, and I imagine the Scion ships can, is go universe-hopping.)

Note also that UEF spaceyards can build a complete, fully armed frigate-sized ship in less than two minutes, so any systems upgrades are mostly trivial to conduct. (For UEF ships, crew is the only limiting factor on fleet size... until those crazyheads at Military Research polish off the combat AI.) The Talus, though, don't necessarily have access to this technology, because it functions at full efficiency only in the UEF home plane.

Re: Space: Sign Ups and OOC, Version 2.0

Ok, the drafting part I can buy into.. So, jumps here or there are like day trips, or *blink* "we're here"?

But 2 minutes for a frigate sized ship? That's like a Dingy or pontoon boat to a cruiser, destroyer or larger sized vessel I would expect. And where are the resources coming from to build something that fast? I gotta say that the 2 minute contruction should on a logistic's level be backed up by a factor of at least 10 Hours. (So your frigate would take 20 hours which is still unimaginable to me)

IMHO, we loose some of the epic nature of the story if we are fighting with lives in ships that take less time to contruct than a "space ship" built by 5 y/o playing with lego's.

Re: Space: Sign Ups and OOC, Version 2.0

Nai I have some problems with your post.

Did you actually read my post? Because;
1) The Pious Inquisitor was evacuated of ALL crewmembers before she left,
2) The Pious Inquisitor was ripped apart atom by atom,
3) Logan died and his body also ripped apart atom by atom,
4) Logan in the past was that powerful on his own, he did not have anything controlling him.
5) He still did not have anything controlling him when he died.

And secondly, you obviously havn't read the whole Space Saga, because there was no last stand of Earth because the Emperor of the Kallum in his great wisdom set about the destruction of Earth by causing the leaders to distrust each other ending with every nuclear warhead aimed at an enemy. There is no Earth left.

The Star-God cycle has ended and there is no longer any threat from them.

Then I lived.

Re: Space: Sign Ups and OOC, Version 2.0

Like I said, the limiting factor is the crew. It takes two years to train one entry-level enlisted crewmember and four years to train one entry-level officer. Since the UEF's Earth has what can only be described as God's economy, raw materials are not an issue.

The UEF also has matter-transmutation technology; if they're missing a particular type of resource, they can synthesize it from pure mass (and a liberal amount of energy).

Re: Space: Sign Ups and OOC, Version 2.0

Nai, the frigates they use are just a weapons platform with hulls and an engine. not that big. I think most parts are pre constructed and are then slapped togheter with machines in zero G. So these space stations(moon bases) are really enormous, and the uef and others dont have shit loads of these bases. While rescourses mined on surface are mini-jumped to the stations.

While my corvettes rivel their frigates in size. While not beating most designs in ship to ship fighting.

while my frigate rivel their destroyer

But their battleships beat mine in size.

So makin a battleship for them is a reall investment but a frigate is not.

But really algebra that stuff is really cheating tongue But the amout of energy needed is immense i would presume

"It takes two years to train one entry-level enlisted crewmember and four years to train one entry-level officer."

While it takes a month for one of my guys, but shipbuilding for Cy'Tan based ships is more complicated. But they do have stations building ships of Talus and blacken but not UEF as they dont need it.

There has to be a topic to streamline the alliance on building and such and using similar names and whatnot in the meeting.

Re: Space: Sign Ups and OOC, Version 2.0

I'm sorry Wolves, from how I read it, the PI was the one everyone was on.. What was the ship that Holmond was on? I will make that edit

And if you read what I posted, I made it out that Logan was more than the body that was Logan was in. So yes, Logan was the "cancer" and the body of logan was another. The Star God's are an intergral part of the story arc I am following, so to say they are done, is not quite the case. The reason why I want to keep the "husk" of logan around is your visualization of the family and wanting more, and the Hope that it brought would be extremely useful. My thought are that the Logan that had all the dark visions of the future kept fighting that hope, with it's own motivations.

In this manner, you keep logan, without all his super glory, and let his true one power, hope, inspire the people.

And as I mentioned, the Scion have a temporal technology. We went back into time, and swopped out the planet Earth in it's last 100th's of a second, with another planet, and why only a small amount of the origional planet remained. I infact had planned on it being a very large comet we swopped out, thus adding high quanity of water to the Earth Moon binary planetary system into a future water world for a second arc part of the Scion story. I took great effort in my story arc to allow for this. I even mentioned the special project, though not it's full intent.

And the Earth did have a defense fleet, just not like some Babylon 5 "Hold the Line" sort of senario against the Kallum. I envisioned more or less a defense fleet along the lines of what the Japanese call their military when I used the term defense fleet.

And btw I have read all of the Space arc that was available.. Some of it's first posting were lost when the forum crashed. That part I have not, so if someone knows where to find it so I may read it.. link away!

Re: Space: Sign Ups and OOC, Version 2.0

Earth being destroyed was what made this roleplay and bringing it back would in my opinion be a stupid move.

Everybody was on a shuttle bound for the Unification when Logan did his thing and they had just docked as he left, in a completely empty ship.

Logan is dead.

Then I lived.

Re: Space: Sign Ups and OOC, Version 2.0

Ok, I'll do something for Logan that I think will work. Now I just gotta find another guy to have the story work itself around.

As far as Earth is concerned, I've got it in the system that the Scion first said not to go to. It's very far out into deep space, at a small star out beyond the galatic rim. I'll think about how to work that angle too.

That's what archive.org has of the Second Story.

Earth is destroyed - that's the entire premise of the roleplay, and we're not about to change history. You could say that the planet you mentioned is a mirror of Earth, but there's no getting around the fact that Earth was destroyed not by a Kallum fleet, but by its own people turned against each other through Kallum political manipulation.

Re: Space: Sign Ups and OOC, Version 2.0

Ah yes... Space: Second Story... How I miss it tongue

And in response to Matt(And just general FYI since we're on the subject),

The Talus Republic isn't able to build at the rate of virtually any other member of the Alliance, simply because of their industrial size at this point, but they do have the fastest growing population. That has basically been the main factor of Garrus wanting to stay with the Alliance for as long as it stands, the Talus have the manpower to field a large Fleet (which they did a few times during the Second Story and this one) but they don't have the firepower.

Re: Space: Sign Ups and OOC, Version 2.0

Ok, I've rescripted the Claudia/Logan events. I believe you will find them suitable. The following elements were altered:

1. I removed the "Cancer" part, hinting that she still thought logans power was that of a darkone. You understand it was from her perspective. You caught her off guard with Logan, why not also with her initial perspective.

2. Earth was still destroyed. We took what we could and created a new homeworld to offer Humanity. Under direction of the "Ad'mini".. aka the Tree of Wisdom. FYI, our Ad'mini are like the two creators of Imperial conflict, one like MasterMike, the Tree of Knowledge.. ie he knew the coding, and the other Tree of Wisdom, ie Stefan, who still works it today.

3. Logan Died, as you wished. I tried to still incorporate the essential elements of what Wolves intended, and allow for the the Scion Arc to continue, without the two intents clashing, as occurred in my initial post.

4. Removed reference of the ship name Pius Inquisitor.. This should leave it for you to decide the name.

Please comment as neccesary. With no logan to run off in a ship, that may mean you might want to re-write that part of a couple of your posts.
