Re: 60 days to go... On the road and TV speeches

Obama asks St. Louis, Missouri prosecutors to target anybody with a "misleading" campaign ad this election.

You did hear the thing from Obama during the debate about launching air strikes into Pakistan to take down Al Qaeda with or without Pakistan's approval, right?  big_smile

Re: 60 days to go... On the road and TV speeches

yes but that's us trying to catch someone who suposedly attacked america...
(btw i disagree with obama on some key points of his views of pakistan, but that issue entirely is irrelevant to my point)

iraq did not have wmd's
and mccain becomes president, we won't be able to even imagine america talking to nations

how many threats are we gunna remove? how many enemies are we guna take down?
we already got iraq, afghanistan,
we also have iran, russia, north korea, possibly china

how far will it go? you have to TALK with nations, that's not guna happen with McCain
how far are we guna go?

Re: 60 days to go... On the road and TV speeches

@Avo
I still think economic fear plays in McCain's favor, hence the move to stop his campaign in an attempt to look more reliable in times of crisis.
While hope that the system could be changed is what favours Obama, hence his constant message for change and better tomorrows.
Sure you can see it both ways, but I think that what they each try to push probably best explains my stand. Basically, Obama's campaign is playing with people's hopes while McCain's campaign is playing with people's fear, which are common left against right tactics.

Re: 60 days to go... On the road and TV speeches

Very risky move from Obama's camp, putting out a fake News report showing McCain winning the election in an attempt to "raise awareness":

I think that in a war of appearance, you don't want to show the other more "presidentiable".

Re: 60 days to go... On the road and TV speeches

LOL that's funny tongue

but Golk, i have to diss-agree with your statement that the economic situation plays in mccain's favor
you couldn't be more wrong on that
mccain's very very uncomfy on the economic issue
and the obama campaign have been blessed with a lot of great quotes directly from mccain, his top advisors and his campaign
not to mension a republican president who can be easily associated with mccain and can be easily blamed for this problem
and that's all not to mention that mccain has flip-flopped on his regulation stand,
topped off by statistics that people usually lean towards democrats in economic situations such as this one
and while mentioning all this i forget that, mccain can and is being portrayed as the guy who only cares about wall street
while obama cares about main street, and that can play GREATLY into obama's hands..

Re: 60 days to go... On the road and TV speeches

Glad, that was directed to Avo's comment on fear and hope. Economic fear is good for the old veteran "I'm gonna smack some heads", economic hope is good for the younger lad "I bring judgement and change".

Basically, John McCain going to Washington like Stallone on a VC position played for him shortly, and after a lack of immediate quantifiable result and the good use of that stunt by the liberal media, people got back to the "we're in such a mess we need real change" stance, since the VC did not annihilate them.

Re: 60 days to go... On the road and TV speeches

i think mccain again showed his stupidity with the timing of him ending his campaign

McCain's time line
Wednesday: "great economic troubles...they need my service... i will help out, i'm suspending my campaign..i won't be at the debate unless a bill has been passed" ----Republicans- we almost have a bill, some good progress

Thursday: Republicans--we need help, mccain what a leader, he's helping, omg he's such a help, no bill yet, not even close ------ Media: HAH LOL ------ Democrats- we have a bill, almost ready, coming a jiffy

Friday: McCain "Great progress made, i'm back" -- Republicans "a lotta work to be done, har har har" --Media: LOL ROFL LMFAO -- Dems: yikes tongue

if mccain had done it after the debate, it would've been great, but he showed his stupidity
and frankly i don't want a president who can't think 2 days ahead of him and see what's coming to hit him smack in the face tongue

Re: 60 days to go... On the road and TV speeches

House Republicans should come out Monday morning, say "We tried, we tried so hard to avoid an irresponsible bailout, but we failed.  This is a rape of the American taxpayer and socialism.  We call on each member to vote thier conscience" and walk away, refuse to deal with Democrats as a group.

Let the Democrats bitch and moan that they have to govern the country wtihout Republican cover.  They can pass whatever on party-line votes.  And THAT is putting the country first, refusing to cooperate with the thieves.

Re: 60 days to go... On the road and TV speeches

Yell ye really have no shame.  Congress had a republican majority fer th' most part o' an either year republican white house, an' ye're tryin' t' blame DEMOCRATS fer th' mess America is in?

I know ye're really not that stupid.

Re: 60 days to go... On the road and TV speeches

I think ye're bein' o'er defensive thar Genesis, Democrats have th' majority.    When Republicans had these numbers under Clinton they beat that scurvey dog into lettin' Republicans write th' budget.   Clinton di'nae submit a budget from 1995-2000.

Aye Republicans should have quashed FMAC an' FHMA when they had majorities.   But that ended in January 2007.   What's Pelosi an' Reid gonna do?

Re: 60 days to go... On the road and TV speeches

Right now they're tryin' allow ye t' have credit.  Is that bad?

Re: 60 days to go... On the road and TV speeches

th' credit market is guna freeze, if this doesn't get done
btw, why does no one mention that th' governemnt can actually make a whoppin' profit out o' this "bailout" an' that dubloons would/should go back t' tax payers

in th' long run ..'tis great fer tax payers too

Re: 60 days to go... On the road and TV speeches

Pull the other one!

There's plenty of private capital otu there.  That is the source of Paulson's $700 billion, bond sales to the private sector.  And theres something like 6000 banks and credit unions in the USA.  What is not gonna happen is none of them make loans and nobody moves their $$$$ into solvent banks.  What is gonna happen is that banks with too much crappy loans will get bypassed as capital moves around them.

Credit is out there, it just costs more!

Re: 60 days to go... On the road and TV speeches

but this is how i see it
i see it as an investment, there's no questioning it, this can make the government a ton of money in the long run..which is great smile

Re: 60 days to go... On the road and TV speeches

Do you think the government is going to allow its partners to lose money?
How about, get prosecuted for fraud?
What about treaties that don't make as much money for government's partners?
Do you know how Congress chooses chairman? It's based on who raises the most money.

Re: 60 days to go... On the road and TV speeches

just gotta say
Mccain just lost the election
and obama can't point it out X(

but the so called "liberal" media will rip this issue apart

the Anti-Earmark candidate, who has been running on that slogan for the past month or two, just voted for a 3 page original bill that was turned into 400 pages, LOAAADDEEEDDD with earmarks,

Re: 60 days to go... On the road and TV speeches

Tax cuts are not pork.

it's 400 pages because its a rider to an existing mental healthcare bill (itself stupid)
it's a rider to an existing bill the House passed because the Senate can't originate fiscal legislation, I found out that's how they force the House to accept it on constitutional grounds
