Re: The Presidential Debate I

nope, McCain was the risky choice coming in because of his resemblances to Bush, and now he's someone Americans can feel safer with then Obama.

Re: The Presidential Debate I

come on avo....
you know that's not true...

einstein probably doesn't even agree with you there tongue

and i personally thought mccain's whole campaign was focused on showing obama as the new guy, the risky choice, was i wrong?

=====================================================================================
what foxnews says:
http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/09/27/with-debate-candidates-shore-up-political-pitches/
(i take it, most of you guys trust fox and listen to them--so i picked em to make my point:P)

Two quotes, i wanted to point out:
"Analysts and voters were split over who technically won the tense debate Friday night at the University of Mississippi. Neither Barack Obama nor John McCain committed a major gaffe, and both delivered strong enough performances that each campaign confidently could declare victory."

"But Obama, a 47-year-old serving his first term in the Senate, challenged McCain frequently and offered himself as someone who can be trusted to make sound choices."

Re: The Presidential Debate I

Round 1 goes to Obama.

To serve is to survive

Re: The Presidential Debate I

i dont watch news shows. i rather hear both sides of the story from two openly biased sources then from places that try to hide how they're biased.

Re: The Presidential Debate I

that's how i do it too avo tongue
LOL

but avo, my point is, mccain was the safe choice tongue obama was the risky choice, i don't think there should be one other person on this forum who should dissagree with this statement..

and Theo, round one went to no one, and it was a repeat of what we've already seen, except now it was on one stage tongue--however politically i think obama has started making his case more clear, it won't show in the BS polls though tongue, polls are all bs big_smile... it will show on Nov 4 tongue

OI! Obama!! Get out of it!  YOu Suck!!!

Lemme make the sound choices!  I'm ready!!!

/throws a brick through the window

there, I'm ready for the big time tongue

When he talked over McCain because he couldn't shut up, was that challenging McCain or offering himself?

i completely disagree. there is so much distrust of republicans, i dont see how you can claim the republican was the safe choice.

Re: The Presidential Debate I

challenging mccain on his lies LOL

anyways...

yell, out of curiosity what do you think, what's your opinion?

who was supposed to be the risky candidate?
mccain or obama... (you can't say both, everyone knows there is some risk to both of them, who was the riskier one tongue)

"i completely disagree. there is so much distrust of republicans, i dont see how you can claim the republican was the safe choice."
that's a complete different point, one i agree with... and one that should turn the election in obama's favour

but i'm not talking risk in means of beliefs and policies, i'm talking about risk of the candidate, a lot people view obama as the risky candidate as he does not have much experience
but i think coming out of the debate, he atleast started clearing those doubts... as he was firm in his policies..

Re: The Presidential Debate I

Their legislative and budget agendas go right out the window, that'll be set by Congress

Obama is in line with the State Dept, unless McCain guts it they'll talk all day

Obama told stupid lies about what he said on the record regarding Georgia and got bogged down whining about McCain and Spain and fumbled what happened in NK.

McCain thinks he'll veto a budget with too much spending and freeze growth.  That would be smacked down.  And how's he gonna do that with a war on?

Both of them are hucksters but I like more of the crowd behind McCain than the Dems behind Obama

Re: The Presidential Debate I

u picked both X(

Re: The Presidential Debate I

gladiator, do you think distrust of republicans is something just starting to effect the race? its been evident since well before McCain became the republican nom; its not something thats just going to start, its the reason Obama has been doing as well as he has since the beginning.

Re: The Presidential Debate I

offcourse it has, and offcourse he is

what's your point?

Re: The Presidential Debate I

> Gladiator wrote:

> offcourse it has, and offcourse he is

what's your point?

that McCain has always been the risky choice.

Re: The Presidential Debate I

LOL
like i said before, the risk you're mentioning is will the 8 years be repeated? (offcourse they will, all the policies are the same tongue)

the risk i'm mentioning of, has been associated with obama all through out the primaries and the fall election campaign
the risk that he's too young and inexperienced!

LOL
this argument is so pointless tongue

This wasn't my idea but I must share it

OK here's the deal that's MoveOn.org and they want you to sign up and then give them your ZIP code and write a letter about who won the debate and MoveOn.org will mail it to your local papers.

So I want you all to take part, explain why McCain won the debate and that way your paper will get your pro-McCain message on MoveOn.org letterhead!

LOL

yell answer my question now..truthfully
who is the riskier candidate? X(

Re: The Presidential Debate I

beats me, I don't know that McCain would say no to anything Democrats in Congress proposed.

Obama, I guess.  I don't like either of them.

@ Spider....oh, ok.  I will take your word on it.

wrong on your assessment of the poll.
Your flaw is 2 fold.

1.  its the poll of viewers who watched the debate on CNN.  This is not the poll of all who watched the debate.
FOX had the highest ratings for both Conventions, is the highest rated news Network,

So, I would assume, most watched the debate on FOX.

2.  90% voting record w/the President.
going against the President, who is in your party, 10% of the time, is pretty Significant.

McCain went against the President on this BAIL OUT bill,  .... Obama was w/the President, and the Democrat Majority ...  So what ?

Do you know, that.....OBAMA.....voted 100% w/the Democrat party line ?
He is the #1 Liberal in the US Senate.

Where is his "Independence?"

As well, the overall voting record is for the most part on Bullshit mundane items that get all favorable passing.
to bundle all votes into a "Record" is hard.

Obama votes w/the President how much ??  Probably about 85% of the time. .....
What does THIS mean ??

Even Pelosi, the Most hard line socialist....and leader of the Dems in the house, votes w/the President better than 80% of the time.
She backed the President on the bail out bill as well.

So what ?

You all need to get off the talking points...and really do your own homework.
Stay informed.  Information is king.

Oh yeah, I forgot the debate was on several stations. You might be right about that then. And Obama voted against with the president only 42% of the time. And no, both he and McCain were against the bail out bill.

Re: The Presidential Debate I

Fox News had a 93% McCain won rating... That was Black Wings point.

Everything bad in the economy is now Obama's fault. Every job lost, all the debt, all the lost retirement funds. All Obama. Are you happy now? We all get to blame Obama!

Yeah, and I said he was right cause I forgot it was on several stations =p

Re: The Presidential Debate I

But still, McCain said he wanted to freeze spending and continue putting 3 billion dollars a week into iraq......

I'm not too fond of Barack's intentions to spend so freely but at least he'd be investing important things as opposed to putting 3 billion a week in a war for nothing.

Re: The Presidential Debate I

42% with the President for Obama ?
Can you source that please......... Nolio ?

I have to assume, that is incorrect.....and if we use the 90% McCain number.....Is it the same computation variables ?

Come .......joust w/the master.
I'm always Right.   You are just intellectually Left.....behind.

Re: The Presidential Debate I

"The President" doesnt vote

"The President" has vetoed 3 bills in 8 years

I suppose judicial nominations count too?  Was the Gang of 10 voting "with The President"

Re: The Presidential Debate I

do you guys not get the idea of polls being bs?

lol tongue

BTW, as i said right after the debate, no one is going to be talking about the debate
and that's exactly what happened...
the next day, news websites and tv were talking about paul newman, the economy, the bailout package... nothing more
