A German computer gamer is being held in connection with the murder of a British university student after an apparent cyberspace dispute escalated into a killing.

The 21-year-old from a town near Frankfurt is accused of travelling to the UK to murder Matthew Pyke, 20, who was found last Friday.

Police are exploring the possibility that the two men fell out over Wars Central, Pyke's discussion forum.

Pyke's girlfriend, Joanna Witton, discovered his body with several stab wounds at their Nottingham city centre flat. There were no signs of forced entry leading to police to believe the dead man may have known his killer.

The two men are believed to have made contact via Pyke's forum, an internet site he ran with Witton.

The suspect, who has not been named by police, was tracked through internet postings and arrested in Limburg-Weilburg, near Frankfurt, on Wednesday evening on suspicion of murder. Extradition proceedings are under way.

I'm pretty sure that Mikey isn't going to try to travel to anyone's house and kill them. He threatens to call the cops on you every once in a while. The only problem with that is he doesn't know anyone's real name or where they live, but he stupidly posted all his personal info on the net.




Also, I don't remember putting in swear words in my original post, but whatever. Mods can edit out any potty language that I forget about and leave in, but under no circumstances is it appropriate to make wild claims that a particular person can give information about me to the FBI. It was not appropriate and I certainly didn't appreciated it. If the FBI thought I was doing anything wrong on this site, they would have knocked on my door when I gave mikey an informative lecture that got me scolded by Lizzy. I know from experience that Mikey is ALL talk. I will make a formal complaint if my posts are tainted by crap comments like the one I had to edit out.

Wow, crazy stuff happens in forums. I remember a few years back on this forum some guy was upset cuz some girl he was dating on IC broke up with him so he killed himself and left his suicide letter in the forums here.

That guy had a ton more stuff going on than just a crappy girl on IC. His problems were deeper and had been going on long before he found IC. The choice he made is a rather sad one and a touchy subject here. That is all I will say on that subject.

That's really quite disturbing. But no-one on IC really strikes me as the nutty kind. And most arguments never last very long. I suppose people hold grudges, though...
