Topic: Okay. That is it...

There has been so many security breaches, rollbacks etc. In my 7~ years I have been playing I have _never_ seen so much gone wrong in _one_ round. (The length of Capricorn so far.) Passwords might have been comprimised, and now empires have actually been deleted. I'm guessing that there now will be ANOTHER rollback. Something close to the third rollback in one round.

This is unacceptable. Simply unacceptable

IMPROVE THE [Security]

...

I'm sorry for cussing. I normally never cuss in forums, but this situation is completely unacceptable. IC have been running for _many_ years and there has gone SO much wrong, during these last couple of months. I don't care about ingame improvements, but they must not be prioritised higher than the security of the system. When it comes down to security versus gameplay, I'd rather have a secure game, than a game with a large gameplay.

I demand an explanation as to why, there has gone so much wrong.

Re: Okay. That is it...

Also I assume that Stefan is rather experienced in hosting online software, so I can't see how IC suddenly has become so insecure!

Re: Okay. That is it...

It's a free game with only one person running it. It's not like other games where you pay to play and there are several technician's checking it constantly. Stefan is experienced but I wouldn't call him a security expert.

Re: Okay. That is it...

So because one person is running the site (which he has done for many, many years) we should just live with random security breaches? That everyone apparently is allowed to edit the user database? I'm sorry, but I fail to see a valid argument for this.
If this is supposed to happen then why even bother advising us to change our passwords. It won't help either way if everyone is able to drop the database tables.

Re: Okay. That is it...

I like the game, and I respect its mods/admins, but how can I respect the game if security isn't taken seriously?

No, not saying you should just live with it. But realistically, you can't expect much to change

It is getting annoying to have to re-do everything that I already did.

In Announcements

"The damage has now been undone, and we have reverted to yesterday's backup. The "hacker" has been identified and his provider notified. The security flaws that allowed him/her in have also been removed."

I want his name and address!

Re: Okay. That is it...

A mccain supporter came up to me on campus wednesday, we spoke for ohhh...5 minutes and he asked me if i would help post a few signs for him around the campus. i said sure why not, he handed me a stack of about 30 just regular 8x11 print offs and a roll of duct tape (which i still have and has already come in useful) i proceeded to pull a sharpie from my book bag, draw a mustache on mccain, draw a speech bubble reading "Wow, I'm sure one old stupid son of a bitch!" and posted on the tree right behind the guy i just talked to. and walked away.

i posted several other similar, (but less appropriate signs) around campus

of course the best part was it had the official stamp on the bottom saying "paid for my the john mccain fund" or whatever the hell its called
