I don't know where you're from (Germany?) but imagine your country or part of it(east Germany?) got occupied by Russians. Or let us be fair about the debate and lets even say after Germany started troubles with one of their former provinces majorly Russian.
What would you want in the end? A democracy or a Russian-style despotism? Then you sentence to slavery all German civilians because of politician decisions and bloody well know it.
Maybe Schneip forgets what East Germans had to endure under the Soviet umbrella....
Or, maybe he is to young to even know......

Yes Paul i am from Germany. The thing is... Lets say east germany was georgia... and we take the 2 most eastern provinces of east germany to declare defacto independance from germany. Now germans 15 years later decide we do not want them to be autonom and invade them. Then Russia would invade...
I would want same i want for georgia now. Let the 2 provinces decide if they want to be russian or german. the rest of east germany for sure wants to stay german. If those 2 regions would want to become russian.. they should be free to do so.
From what i read ossetia wants to unite with northern ossetia and so become a part of the russian federation. If its their will.. let them do it.

We don't treat "Russians" like enemies, but there despotic leaders. They are responsible for Russia being undemocratic after all. There are like what 150mil people living there? Do you really have to kill 20 mil people like Stalin or 6mil Jews? If you let this regime grow bigger/expand you only add to this number. Its very naive to think they won't do it if they have the chance. The Russians themselves are tricked into this by nationalism and propaganda. If Georgia becomes part of the NATO, no more Russian blood got spilled as well.

You haven't answered the question. Would you be ok if Germany (all of it) came under despotic rule? Which would be the case if nobody cared anyway(and IF it was possible ofcourse because germany has a better army). Or be invaded in return? On mistake can't make up for another. Then you simply have twice the amount of mistakes and the second mess would be larger as the first.
I have issues with all the democratically elected leaders of Europe. Does that mean your borders are fluid? If Ireland overruns N Ireland should you expect to hear what a jerk Brown has been, nobody supports him, he inflamed the situation, let's be realistic, blah blah
It was Clinton and the EU who thought NATO would make a nice consolation prize for not being in the EU, now it would have the benefit of helping to keep Russia's army inside Russia's borders
Georgia's economic need right now is to rebuild wanton damage caused by Moscow.

70 years ago a small state were bein' partioned an' absorbed by a European power arguin' a duty t' its ethnic citizens beyond its borders. For 70 years th' West agreed this were bein' a horrible failure by th' democratic powers.
