Re: Sarah Palin, McCains Running mate, Governor of Alaska
lol no I won't answer Newb, obviously he skipped a couple posts in there and was a bit trigger-happy (and drunk perhaps?) ![]()
As for the last things posted by Soth and Yell, here's my take about the debate, a forecast that might change depending on the events to come (mainly Palin's behaviour/reception)...
Palin/Biden:
- Palin comes in really calm and to the point, well prepared, does not go out of her prepared answers except for a couple of nicely timed very efficient attacks (mostly with a smile).
- Biden comes in with clear instructions to behave, makes his experience work for him, but cannot avoid to answer attacks/opinions with a condescending attitude.
Result: Palin comes out on top; people don't really remember content but find it difficult to forgive the senator his attitude towards her. Sympathy win.
McCain/Obama:
- McCain, really comfortable, comes out as a politics veteran with clear principles and a will make an impression of control and solidity, attacks Obama on reality.
- Obama, in his element, makes a point to speak out "what people think", avoids any trap to be called a junior with a more-than-usual adult/serious figure (+ refuses fights), and calls for "bigger plans".
Result: Obama comes out on top; people will have a hard time judging the best content, but doubts against Obama's taxes will fade out and hope + the "think bigger" option will work.
In my opinion, these debates will not necessarily mean a victory for any of the tickets - as fighting on the ground in key states will prove more relevant - but that's how I see it happening.
(Note that the resultof the first debate is obviously able to change attitudes in the second one.)
