Demonstrate empirically that every life is valuable, or your claim has no substance.

Doesnt those human rigths yer USA is spreadin' by war imply that every human bein' is equal?

Isnt that one o' those values?  That makes us westerners so "superior" t' those arab bastards, me Jolly Roger

Even th' most invalid, th' youngest child, th' oldest lubber, could prop a door open

Therefore they have value

Re: Americans kill 90 (mostly children) in Afganistan

what is a life worth? most of us discussing here are citizens of an developed "First World" Nation.  We live in more or less secure communitys with Internet, plenty of food and enough beer to survive.  Thousands of children die everyday because they lack enough food or clean water. Every few seconds dies a human in the "third World" because he lacks food, water or medicine.  a nightmare!  what do we do?  not enough, but do we really care?  No.  This happens too far away in nations many of us never heard of.
it is the same with those about 90 killed .  it is too far away to really care about.  the last 7 years brought us so many pictures of war, car bombs, suicide bombers etc., that we lost our interest.  bomb explosion in iraq, 40 killed 200 wounded (example)?  i just think: just another one and not the last bomb.  we are so used to the daily dying in the world, that we lose our ethical standarts step by step.
EU and USA
europe has a long history of wars and killing.  we lost millions and millions on the battlefields.  if the US one day tops that numbers, than u can call us "toy soldiers" or "cowards", whatever.  until than u americans better shut up with your 232 years of national history, because these few years are nothing compared to 2000 years of european warfare.

Re: Americans kill 90 (mostly children) in Afganistan

Every life has value and there is not one single human being in this world who can judge how valuable a person is as opposed to another human being.

There are "third worlders" who walk 10 miles each day in the sun to bring a bucket of water home so that their family can have food and something to drink.

There are "third worlders" who develop skills to get out of bad situations in their countries and move to big cities in free and rich countries so that they can make a living and send money back home so that their family can have food, clothing and medicine.

Some of you really need to get a reality check. Your personal beliefs are your personal beliefs and I have no problem with that. But don't go saying that 1 american is equal to or greater than any other human being because regardless of our comfortable situations, we are no better than any other person. No one human being has the same life experiences, thoughts, ideas, goals and aspirations as another human being.

Re: Americans kill 90 (mostly children) in Afganistan

4 pages o' complete non-sense

anybody who says 1 american life is worth a 100,000 third worlders an' then defends it, IN MY OPINION deserves t' be killed just so that 100,000 third worlders get revenge

an' justin this is nothin' with ye, just yer fked up views o' th' world

Re: Americans kill 90 (mostly children) in Afganistan

I say 'tis best t' keep th' thread  open, especially cuz it says that stupid comment.

Why?
Ahoy!
Cuz someone who reads th' thread objectively will see th' other posts in response t' that comment an' realize th' person were bein' jokin' an'/or stupidly wrong if they were seri'us.

Newb..sadly, justin was serious

Re: Americans kill 90 (mostly children) in Afganistan

If so, that still doesn't justify shutting this thread down since that isn't the main topic of this thread.

We're not going to shut down a "U r cruel bastards" thread because some responses strike you as bastardly cruel.

No. Human rights have no empirical basis for being claimed to exist. And the talk about them in the west is really only a facade for imperialism.

When people die abroad, it's business as usual. You may disapprove of it, but you can't change it. No one can as a matter of fact, because power principles are a recipe for power, and morality is a contradiction to those principles of power.

And people in the west have a higher value than those in the third world, in economic terms.
