I APPLAUD Sen. Obama's Responce to the situation concerning Palin's daughter.

My point is that McCain has advertized the question about Obama: Is he ready to lead? And then he chooses someone with less experience than obama? Makes no sense!

Obama if elected has to lead, not his VP Biden.

I seriously doubt Palin will get McCain any democrat votes, for the simple fact that the Bush administration pretty much made that impossible. His approval rate is what, 8% atm?
I also seriously doubt many republicans will vote Obama, he is black afterall.
So, all in all, I expect another tight race, which will be won by the party whose voters turn up the most at the polls.
It doesn't matter if McCain picked a woman or if Biden really is an asset to Obama. You guys have become too blind to see anything other than Republican or Democrat on the ballot. The candidates could be Putin and Osama that it wouldn't matter, you just look up Rep or Dem and make your mark. I guess politics has become another national sport.
It's sad really. Forgive me for quoting Obama, but he said that your nation's troops "have not served a Red America or a Blue America
"I will fight for your right to be wrong!" << S.G. Tallentyre
"I am a flexible centrist: not stuck on right-wing, not stuck on left-wing, and not stuck on centre...and I don't flip-flop either" <<< me
Fighting for peace is like stopping the raping of a virgin.

If you get Pregnant, no problem, we can kill the fetus legally, and.......you dont have to tell your parents kids.
BUT....we have a youngen that might actually tell their parents ?? And the Parent might want to save their Grand child from death ??
How can this be ??

Anyways I detest abortion as a means of anticonception so I applaud the daughter keeping the child.

her dad is partly at fault, not so much the mom
On C-SPAN they were showing the protest. They gave speeches and they looked like a bunch of hip-hop generation idiots. Watching them only reinforced my elitism. I think the crowd should be dispersed by those professional officers, and we should start throwing members of the "hip hop generation" in to military school to shape them up.
Bloody savages!
Military school is presently an option for parents who want to send their kids to school to learn. The idea is that they learn better from the regimented lifestyle from attending school and living there. We aren't sending them to war, lol. On second though, that might be a great idea. We can use them as diversions to be slaughtered.

I think it's great that young girls are having sex, that makes the lives of guys like me more fulfilling. Imagine a society where women forced men to wait until marriage, that would make life unfulfilling by causing a now abundant and cheap commodity to suddenly become scarce and very expensive - because due to government regulation the costs for sex would rise (a higher risk of pregnancy). Damn you for proposing that government regulate a market that makes everyone's lives better with a cheaper commodity!
I could've never, in my wildest dreams have thought, that even justinian could make something as great as sex, sound so damn boring! X(
With this "non-scandal", Republicans are all-out looking for a hit, and they may well score. It's a risky strategy but it could pay off, they just need the public to feel that Democrats are judging Palin on personal matters. I already said Palin can't be personnaly attacked, "thanks" to the Dawn syndrom issue and the fact that she WILL prevail as a honest and working public servant in the eyes of the public.
It's almost funny looking at all the interviews where McCain's staff consistently try to move the subject to "she shouldn't be attacked on that" when it's clear that the Democrats don't want to fall in the trap. They also keep citing the "9000 people mayor" blunder that was officially corrected by Obama, for lack of anything else for now.
Despite that first blunder, Obama has been perfect at identifying the threat and gave a very clear response, now it's a matter of being able to handle his troops and leftist friends.
He can only have been inspired by McCain's "classy ad" congratulating him, a bold move if there is any, considering it could have backfired as really cheap, but it worked.
Nevertheless, even if it does not work it's succeeding in turning the attention away from the real issues.
Funny though how the "kids" issues, supposed to be out of the specter, are playing a central role in both campaigns.
I don't like the Republican's non-defense of Palin...it's so unfair of them and Obama's been so nice about it. X(
You guys overseas don't know what dorks US media are being about this, its PALINPALINPALINPALIN
her daughter's pregnant! well er um Ok whatever
she was never pregnant it was her daughters ok that's a lie
her husband had a drunk driving conviction! ok that was 1986
she fished out of season!!! uhh...er um ok whatever
For those who know the Bible, the attackers against Palin and her family sound like most of the Pharisees of Jesus' days on earth.
yell you wouldn't be angry at them if it was obama/democratic ticket they were talking bad about...
but other than that..how dare the republicans say family shouldn't be on the table, especially after they went after michelle obama and the obama family--including dad..mother, grandpa grandma for patriotism and other things like that
but this is what I like about obama, he manned up..he could've made a little hidden remark, but he didn't he said plain and clear that we shouldn't talk about this
I sorta dis-agree with him, i agree her daughter shouldn't be brought into this, she really shouldn't, i've known a couple of girls who got pregnant in their teen years, actually one of my really close friends got pregnant when she was 18..and it is really tough and with this media spotlight it would be TERRIBLE
BUT that being said, i think the questions should come up whether the choices Palin has made, with her connservative views, are they really right?
like her opposing sex-ed in school and birth control, that's a discussion and something that the media should focus on
EDIT: i fealt i had to add this:
what i understand of republican views is this: you hide sex from children in hopes they don't get involved in anything like it --that's the simpler version of it i guess - correct me if i'm wrong though-
anyways that sorta thinking might have been perfect a couple HUNDRED
years ago..but it isn't right in this day and age, hiding it, is just worse. it's like just wiping the dust under the rug--instead with liberal views you actually prevent pregnancy.. either that be with educating your kids against it, or having safe sex
Why? She's preggers because she didn't listen to her mom. If she's not gonna listen to her mom, she's not gonna listen to her mom. Period. Whatever mom says.
she didn't listen to her mom
because Mom didn't address the situation properly, Mom didn't have the right solutions, Mom thought she did, but she really didn't.
and now Mom want's to inject those values into the lives of millions of families, who would rather have a choice.
Oh, it's the daughter's fault too...don't get me wrong.
In fact, it's mostly her fault and her boyfriend's fault.
But it's also the dads' fault (to a much lesser extent).
The man of the house is the one who needs to instill in his daughter(s) what type of man to choose as a partner and how to relate to men.
He wasn't home enough to do so.
His type of job is the reason.
Now you could say it's the mother's fault instead but the role mothers are supposed to "play" is something else entirely.
The only thing you could fault Sarah Palin with is not getting on her husband's case about what his role was.
Part of the problem for that was that she spent a little too much time outside the house too.
How do I decide what the parents' roles are "supposed to be" in raising a child?
Sociological observation.
Females need to "feel" physically loved in a non-sexual way by their fathers to grow awareness and character (beyond the thoughts) of what to expect of possible male mates.
This has already been discussed and shown to be irrelevant to the political character of Sarah Palin.
If Sarah Palin habitually has sex outside marriage and/or had recently conceived a child through one, then it would be relevant to her political character.
there are no ROLES in families ![]()
if there are, your family or the ones you observed
aren't functioning... i remember BOTH my parents talking to me, and when my dad was on his business trips..my mom stepped up
if her dad wasn't home, palin should've stepped up
but put that aside
i'm talking about her VIEWS, her BELIEFS, her conservative views and beliefs, those in the end DID NOT WORK
conservative views after all, don't teach kids about sex-- tell me if i'm wrong -- and don't do evrything in our power to prevent pregnancy..so it doesn't have to come to abortion
they are not right for this age and time... kids are going to find about sex whether their parents tell them are not..it's better that parents/school tell them, cuz that way there is a better chance that kids will not be involved in sex
Her beliefs did work.
They just didn't properly convey them.
I mentioned how they didn't (especially the dad).
This applies to EVERY age and time.
And yes, I was indirectly saying that parents (both) should teach their kids about sex.
(obviously in a non-incestuous way)

The recent birth of her son, born with downs syndrome, has initials that fortell the future:
Trig Paxson Van Palin
TPVP ....The Presidentials Vice President
How is that for prophetic venue?
( following excerpt from Wikipdeia )
Palin gave birth to her youngest child, Trig, on April 18, 2008, while in office as governor. Her pregnancy is reported to have surprised Alaskans, including her staff; she didn't tell her staff
that she was pregnant until March 5--seven months into the pregnancy.[94] Her water broke one month before Trig was due, but she kept a previous speaking engagement in Texas and then flew 8 hours to Alaska.[95] She returned to the office
three days after delivering the child.[96][23] The baby has Down's syndrome; Palin's decision to have the baby was applauded by the pro-life community.[97][98]

Palin electrifies conservative base
Jonathan Martin1 hour, 55 minutes ago
ST. PAUL - The selection of Sarah Palin as John McCain's running mate has electrified conservative activists, providing a boost of energy to the GOP nominee-in-waiting from a key
constituency that had been previously had been lukewarm - at best - about him.
By tapping the anti-abortion and pro-gun Alaska governor just ahead of his convention, which is set to start here Monday, McCain hasn't just won approval from a skeptical Republican base - he's ignited a wave of elation and emotion that has
led some grassroots activists to weep with joy.
Serious questions remain about McCain's pick - exactly how much he knows about her and her positions, past and present, on key issues. But for the worker bee core of the party that is
essential to any Republican victory there are no doubts.
"I woke up and my email was just going crazy," said Charmaine Yoest, head of the legislative arm of Americans United for Life and a former top official in Mike Huckabee's presidential campaign.
"And then when it was announced -- it was like you couldn't breathe."
The media elite - as well as elite members of the GOP consulting community - have all but mocked Palin as a former small town mayor with zero Washington experience. But that view of her totally misses the cultural resonance she carries to crucial Republican power centers and could not be more at odds with the jubilation felt among true believers that one of their own is on the ticket.
Palin, say conservative activists, has instantly changed how they feel about McCain's campaign and spurred them to go to work for the Republican ticket.
First, though, they're expressing their newfound fondness for McCain with their checkbooks. Since tapping Palin, the campaign has raised nearly $7 million online, according to McCain aides.
Most importantly for McCain, the two constituencies who are most energized by Palin just happen to be the two grassroots pillars of the GOP: anti-abortion activists and pro-Second
Amendment enthusiasts and sportsmen. Without these two camps making phone calls, stuffing envelopes and knocking on doors, Republican presidential candidates would severely lack for volunteers. They are critical to the health of the conservative coalition that has dominated Republican politics for a generation.
Republicans say the primary source for the passion can be found in Palin's example and authenticity.
Not only is the 44-year-old governor opposed to abortion rights -- but she carried and gave birth to a child with Down syndrome earlier this year, a profound and powerful motivating force to both
opponents of abortion rights and the parents and relatives of special needs children.
And not only is she a supporter of the right to bear arms - but she's a life member of the NRA and an avid hunter and fishermen whose gubernatorial office couch is adorned with
a massive Grizzly bear pelt.
"She's lived it!" exulted Yoest "It's so satisfying as a conservative woman. When she walked out on that stage there was just this
moment. It was really emotional for a lot of us."
After hearing the news Yoest, who was in St. Paul preparing for the convention, said she and other Republican women here "were grabbing each other and jumping up and down."
Steve Duprey, a former New Hampshire GOP chairman and top McCain backer who hails from the moderate wing of the party, was also in the Twin Cities when the news broke.
"I was in the Rules Committee with about 150 people in the room. They had TVs set up and we took a break to watch the announcement. For a second after she came out, it was silent. Then there was a gasp and everybody stood up and started cheering and clapping. We stayed
standing the whole speech."
After Palin finished, he said, the emotion set in.
"There were 10 or 12 women, party stalwarts, in tears, using napkins and handkerchiefs."
Part of the reason for the joy is what President Bush once called, in another context, "the soft bigotry of low expectations." Social conservatives just didn't expect one of their own to be tapped and were actually bracing themselves for the selection of a supporter of abortion rights.
"There is an electricity going through the social conservative crowd right now; it's unbelievable," said James Muffett, head of Michigan's Citizens for Traditional Values, who had met with
McCain in the weeks leading up to his selection of a running mate. "Especially given all the set-ups and head fakes - it's amazing. A lot of people were sure he was going to show his more moderate colors."
Muffett said the effect on his conservative comrades-in-arms has been immediate and visceral.
"My wife and I watched an MSNBC special on her last night," he said. "My wife knew nothing about this woman. But she was in tears listening to her articulate the views she had."
Since the pick, Muffett said, he's gotten dozens of emails and the phones have been ringing off the hook" from other social conservatives who had assumed McCain would spurn them.
"They were taunting me, saying 'McCain's going to disappoint you,' " he said of the sentiment before the pick.
Since?
"'Boy, what kind of prayers have you been saying for McCain?'" he said with a chuckle about the question asked on one phone call. "He went and chose a Pentecostal for his running mate!"
The adoration goes beyond Christian conservatives.
Sportsmen are also overjoyed at the addition of one of their own, and can't get enough of video and pictures showing Paliln firing a weapon.
"She's one of us," wrote Michael Bane, a prominent Colorado-based gun enthusiast who has a show on the Outdoor Channel, on his blog. "FINALLY, we can get 100% behind the Republican
ticket ... change we can believe in!"
"You know I've had my problems with McCain, but he has reached out a hand to us both at the NRA Annual Meeting [earlier this year] and with the amazing selection of Sarah Palin as his running
mate," Bane added.
And then there is the contrast: "While ( Barack Obama ) wants to ban AR-15s; Palin shoots AR-15s, and apparently pretty well."
"Every shooter, every hunter, every gun owner, every competitor needs to understand that it is time to, in the words of Bruce Willis, 'cowboy the 'f...' up.' "
Chris Cox, the top political aide at the NRA, suggested that his job just got a whole lot easier, not just with a pro-gun Republican
vice-presidential nominee but a Democratic number two - Delaware Sen. Joe Biden - who is anathema to the Second Amendment community
"We'll be able to have some fun contrasting not just McCain and Obama, but Biden and Palin," said Cox, whose organization is giving "I'm a Bitter Gun Owner and I Vote!" signs and t-shirts to
its members. "She's great on our issues and [Biden
Like I mentioned, and you failed to see soth, that i do feel sorry for the daughter, and some what for Palin too
and Newb, you can't blame the dad for their daughter getting pregnant, Her dad can't stay home, and inject right values into them...
c'mon
there are probably millions of single mothers, that does not mean every one of their daughters is getting pregnant,
and actually my dad never talked to me about sex, my dad didn't talk to my sister either..my mom did, and we learnt it at school too
my sister ahd her kid, when she got married, i have never made a girl pregnant either,
yes the dad not being there might have some effect, but that is not an excuse, you can not blame the dad, palin is equal responsibility
if she knew her dad couldn't be there, she needed to step up, it's that plain and simple
but i dont think that was it, it's all about the environment the kid grows up in
If sex is a big no-no in the house, and like Palin wants a big no-no in the school, then kids find out about sex from other sources, and in this day and age it's everywhere, media, tv, internet, and their friends, now the idea they will get from these sources will be that sex is great, there is nothing to worry about...
now do you think if the school talked about sex, or their parents(mom OR dad) would they say...go out and have sex and have fun?
no they would make their kids understand that sex is wrong and why they should wait, and find the right guy, and make sure they are married
now you get to her being against abortion and forms of prevention
- now the trurth is that a lot of kids are having sex prior to marriage...that's the reality, the right/religous thing would be to prevent that, and i think that's possible with proper sex-ed, and for parents to believe and follow those values that they set for their kids
now the thing is, i dont think it should get to abortion, forms of prevention should be allowed
i don't fully agree with abortion, i dont think abortion is a good way to go, but the truth is there are many families who can not handle the baby, the end result of the baby would probably be on the street, and that is not fair... i think there should be a choice...even though i dont agree with abortion, i believe there is a better way to make sure a baby is not concieved, with teen sex...
obviously it would be better if teen sex was not around, BUT even if it can be solved with the right ideas and the teachings, it is near impossible to stop teen sex in this day and age
so what's the solution? prevention.
if this was 1950 even, i'd agree with republicans, but it isn't ...and i also believe in giving choice to teens...IF they understand the risks and the responsibility

Hey come on, economic descriptions are fun. Here's one. Did you know that a couple's bed can be divided in two? One side is called supply and the other demand
.
Anyhow, I think abstinence is lame, and that we should be more sexually open and receptive. This means making practical decisions before engaging in sex with other people, and thus better sex education.
Gladiator,
Did you know that (approximately):
- 68% of the convicted criminal in the USA come from physically fatherless homes,
- 28% of the convicted criminal in the USA come from relationally fatherless homes where they're physically there,
- 4% of the convicted criminal of the USA come from homes where the father is a pastor/policeman/lawyer/ judge/politician/society-leader, who puts too much pressure on their kids to be good?
NOTE: COLOR ISN"T AN ISSUE.
Of course this does NOT mean that every fatherless kid becomes a convicted criminal.
But it does show you that fathers are the ones kids intuitively look to for guidance, not their mothers so much.
P.S. Did you notice that I did not say/imply that Sarah Palin is completely innocent?
