Lol that's the thing about Minnesota. Most are conservative outside the twin cities, but the people in the cities are bloody crazy! And I mean crazy, way different culture.

I don't see why the Republicans chose our state, it's such a dumb state. It's just a bunch of Swedes.

I just saw images of some of the stuff confiscated.

Serious nasty improvised road spikes, those things that will guaranteed pierce tires, definite Molotov cocktail stuff, and other improvised devices which would be hurtful for police.

Ok am I the only one who thinks the list got a little weird at this point?  What good is 1 army helmet, why wouldn't they at least use wood for the shields (less give than the plastic used to make buckets), and I don't even want to think what the urine was for.

In some cities plastic is cheaper than wood, by far.

The urine was to humiliate politicians, police, or someone. If it has been stored a while in an enclosed space it gets ripe.

1 army helmet is a coup in itself. lol. I imagine others were going to bring biking helmets, hockey face masks, and other 'safety equipment'. The army helmet is worth bragging rights for the wearer.

These kids planned to do as much damage as they can.

I can, with a team of say 5 fit people, so utterly gangrape a major US city... but I am an expert. These are kids. They will still do a lot of damage.

The only way to counter that is the threat of utterly destroying everything they care for. Or destroying them to the last man and woman. Either will work. They do not fear jail, jail is a badge of honor to them, they do not fear losing property, they will steal or coerce others to give them more. They are a militant group in the forming... though they do not know it, and would deny it due to their so called Anarchist feelings. It will take a leader to band them together, but that leader probably keeps them acting anarchists to keep his position safe.

I understand the need to get a bargain but you are better off bringing a second weapon than a plastic shield.  Besides you don't have to buy it, just go to the dump find a desk and break it up.

these are urbanite kids, they will be revulsed by a garbage dump so much as to not do what is needed. Nor would they think of alternatives.

Plastic can be effective if made properly, by layering it you can absorb a lot more shock than with a chunk of wood.

Plus mattering on the pail it can come with a built in handle system... or be extremely thick indeed. It all matters.

Those spikes though, think metal disks shorn, then bent to cover all directions, and sharpened. Nasty little critters.

well the GOP is cancelling much of its convention because it doesn't want to party during hurricanes

this will help the GOP because it means less time of RainMan McCain droning dem talking points
and less chance somebody like Specter will announce Roe v Wade is settled law from the frickin podium of the GOP convention

hey we arent all swedes wink but i do agree with you.  as you go deeper into the twin cities the people become exceedingly CRAZY liberal but its mostly in minneapolis.  St. Paul (where the convention is going to be held) is much more working class and conservative. i think one of the reasons the republicans chose my states was in an effort to win it over.  If the conservatives could win Minnesota that would be a HUGE victory and it isnt an impossible idea.  We have been voting more and more conservative in the past couple years.  we elected a republican Governor and senator.  also the republicans are winning more and more seats in the state congress.  there is still hope for the beautiful state of Minnesota big_smile

Flint, how old are these "kids" 10, 15, or perhaps they are 20+ adults who wish to exercise their constitutionally given right of free speech. These morons wtih Molotov cocktails, shields and helmets get way to much press. And the sad thing is that it takes away from the real issues. Chances are if there is an organized protest, 90% will be holding banners and signs, and not gearing up for a riot.

BTW, wouldn't it be a great idea for a liberal news station to show two live shots on screen at the same time: One with Republicans boozing up, and the other with a massive hurricane bashing New Orleans? tongue
