Re: Space: Sign Ups and OOC, Version 2.0

I imagine just simply due to the populations, the largest planets would have come from the Talus, and the smaller population planets would have been human colonies. Plus if the Cybrans do cede into the Scion, that would be a sizeable boost.

For those who understand, no explanation is needed.

Re: Space: Sign Ups and OOC, Version 2.0

I concede the first point. The problem with having the Cybrans ceding into the Scion is that the Cybran presence in the Blacken universe consists entirely of automatons and their commanders occupying military bases; there are no Cybran civilians in the Blacken universe.

You could work around that, though, although you'd have the Aeon and Seraphim to deal with...

Re: Space: Sign Ups and OOC, Version 2.0

Hmm... the last CotC news broadcast indicated the Scion accepted 272 new systems, which by itself would have already generated significant worry among Alliance leaders, lethargic as they are - both for the volume and for the sheer percentage change that the increase represents. If you were looking for shock factor, I don't see why that by itself wouldn't have been enough, but if you need more, even a smaller increase like 15-30 worlds' worth into core Alliance space would be enough for the Alliance leaders to say "HOLY CARP TH3Y'RE SEERIUS!!11!!1!!111" - keep in mind that the Blacken Colonial Command only has three large colonies to its name and the UEF civilian presence is similarly limited.

Also, around this time, there are going to be a lot of skeptics looking at the Scion as if they're an evil, conquering race no better than the other foes we've seen. Play with that a little if you feel like it.

As for the Kyrozch... lemme borrow your ship and close up that story arc, then you can extract penance from Carl and Argus if you want. And if you really need a proxy war, the Wraith have been gathering dust on a shelf for quite some time...

Just remember both the Empire and the Republic have made it difficult, dishonorable and irrevirsable to join the Scion. While in the beginning, during political turmoil before the outbreak of war, many Talus may have flocked to the Scion, that has run down to a trickle. But yeah it is logical that they would be a sizeable percent of your population... after enough time to make babies.

Re: Space: Sign Ups and OOC, Version 2.0

The though I have here is the military arms of the two sides are tearing up the worlds of each other, those than join the Scion would never have to live in fear of such events. I would see this worlds mostly as refugee sort of worlds.

As far as teh Blacken Colonial Command... they will be receiving "reinforcements" soon.

How do the kryzoch look like?

Re: Space: Sign Ups and OOC, Version 2.0

Green, insectoid, blind (their heightened perceptive abilities negate the need for sight), mostly bipedal (with exceptions), physical appearance heavily dependent on function. For example, Kyrozch scout drones are small (about three feet tall) and very fast, whereas Kyrozch leader drones are much larger (the size of a small house), tougher, and stronger. Their exoskeletons are formed from a matrix of chitin, keratin-like protein, carbon nanotubes, and notum; the notum gives the otherwise greenish-brown "skin" its characteristic sinister, radioactive green appearance, and also gives most Kyrozch drones, especially leader drones, an appearance of crackling with energy.

Their genetic material differs in building blocks from that of terrestrial life forms, and thus much of the biomatter that comprises their bodies is alien in nature (i.e. no terrestrial organism produces comparable matter).

Their extensive knowledge of biotechnology allows them to graft weapons and tools directly to their bodies, fueled by their notum-rich blood; their thirst for the material stems from the fact that they rely on it as a primary source of energy for absolutely everything, to the point where they are physically dependent on it - it is both their drug and their petroleum. Like most scientists, they believe (insomuch as they have the capability for belief) that notum is a resource created at the beginning of time in finite, normally very small, quantities. A large source of notum, like that on Rubi-Ka, would mean salvation for their kind for potentially millions of years - perhaps enough time to rebuild the civilization they lost around when the Prophecy was forged (but you don't know about that yet).

Hand to hand, it is extraordinarily difficult for a human to defeat a Kyrozch drone. Even an otherwise unarmed Kyrozch scout drone has fearsome, razor-sharp energy claws that will make short work of practically any material. The most commonly accepted tactic for a human force to defeat a Kyrozch force is concentrated, massed firepower at medium to long distances, supported by heavy weaponry.
