he was parachuted into the USA 40 years ago to act as a Soviet sleeper agent. there he dutifully spied for the motherland right up until 1991 when wiith the collapse of the USSR he was ordered to return home. the Yell or Nikolai Yellawskov as he was known to the Soviet Central command decided to stay. he layed low throughout the 90s but when Putin came to power- he dusted off the old KGB files & found that Nikolai was still active in the USA. now that Russia is back on the scene as a world power The Yell has been masquerading once again as a right-wing anti-commie redneck American, he could have turnedcoat to work for the CIA but his family in vladivostock would be in danger.

so anyway hows things going tovarish?

Beria got in just before Krushchev.  He was a real jerk, and he tried to do to the postwar Red Army what Stalin had done in the 1930s.  But two things stopped him: one, the Army knew what killing the best generals did to teh defense capabilities of the USSR, and two, Party apparatchiks like Krushchev knew what it did too.  Krushchev "made his bones" as the Party liason between Stalin and the military commanders at Stalingrad.

For a while after Beria went, Marshal Serov was seen as the top man with Krushchev and I think one other as his supports, until Krushchev got the power to retire teh Marshal.  The Party didn't like having the military in charge.  And for thirty years the KGB never got to the top spot, until Andropov.  There's a lot of speculation that Andropov's "heart attack" was a planned event, because he was a real nut. Kept insisting the KGB find proof Reagan was gonna nuke the USSR in a sneak attack, so he could publish it right before the USSR launched its own.  And he's the guy who ordered the hit on the Pope.  Made HIS bones as Soviet Ambassador in Hungary in 1956, coordinating the destruction of political targets when the Red Army moved in.

And such a war would require Russia to protect her citizens from Ukranian aggression within its own borders...

Ukrain is devided and some warmongers are trying to use it to ignite a war. Eastern ukrain is more technologically advanced and is pro-russian while western ukrain is more nationalist and pro-western. I will not be surprised if in the end ukrain will get devided somewhere near Kiiv
