What always seemed cool to me would be this concept:

* everyone joins the galaxy and is put into one big pool of players
* galaxy gets closed
* pool of players gets divided into equal families
* all families keep 1 or 2 spots open for late randoms once round has started
* drafting could be arranged by just allowing people to team up in the pool and then placed together.
* galaxy opens
* time to prepare bor
* round starts!

However this is to much of a drastic change. Therefore this will never happen, thank you for your time... goodbye!

in beginning there are always a couple contenders and there are always 1 or 2 fams who crash and burn due to inactivity or some early lame war...

so we will see!
