"No, the water's quite good to be honest, just not suitable in large quantities, probably because of the chloride in it.."
Ah, I know what you mean. The last time I was in London someone had been very liberal with the chlorine, but that could have been to counteract the problems common to old pipes as the water tasted alot like cheap canned beer, all metallic and chemical.
This reminds me of something that bugs me: I live in a country with water standards so high you can drink the toilet water (assuming you've cleaned your toilet) yet people inist on buying bottled whater which, as mentioned earlier, is of a much lower standard. And more expensive per unit come to think of it.
I live in Estonia which is just south of finland and my neighbour buys Evian bottled water which comes from France for 1.50(1.5 litre bottle) euros which tastes just like tap water. When he could buy water that comes from local spring and is 1/3 the price. He argues that the local water is stale because its stored in warehouses which ofcourse makes no sense because Evian water has to be shipped from France. I also strongly oppose bottled water because for my country I just can't see the point.
I live in Portland Oregon. According to all water experts in the world, the Bull Run water reservoir is the cleanest natural water source in the entire world. This water supply is so clean Intel made some of their fabrication plants here just for the clean water supply.
And in this city blessed supposedly with the best water supply in the world we have one of the largest bottled water industries possible. Hell a company called "Oregon Rain" even formed, with the intent to market 'rain water carefully collected for purity"
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/23504373/
This is the reason why you buy it.
Flint, have you ever tasted 100% pure water? Meaning water containing only H20... No H+ or OH- ions or anything else? It tastes like crap. We have huge vats in the Uni chem lab for cleansing glassware, and yes, I have tried some. It was the first time I've ever described something as tasting like nothingness.
The point of this? No one buys pure water. The water that comes from my well (if you eliminate the Sulfur) is no worse that the $3 bottled water from Fuji by friend buys. You can talk about water purity all you want, but the only way to get "pure" water is through chemical processes used to make lab water.
Either that or evaporation in a closed system.
@CT
Yeah distilled water is icky. Yuck!
oh our water has minerals and such required by human life. I dunno about the rain water one, but the reservoir has the right ones, just in lower amounts. We add fluoride and chlorine to the water, as per normal conventions, but more fluoride and less chlorine.
tap water has fluoride in it too
which is good for your teeth.
basically all the guys in the bottled water companies are just distilling tap water anyway i reckon -_-
"Shutup, ill drink a convenient bottle if i want"
A constructive counter-argument.
Is there a brand of water (in America - where else?) that's blessed by Rabbis or something and so supposedly has healing properties?
Yeah and a Christian version as well. I dont know much more than that, for I believe if it is possible to bless water, you can bless it yourself.

Guess what that is. There's another link I need to find that basically says "This is blessed municipal tap water".
Ah jeez the Canucks think their water is holy. Next they will think their hockey pucks are holy and name them "Holy Hockey Pucks"
They probably do most of their business with the U.S.
Also, they don't claim their water is holy. Their company name is simply Holy Bottled Water. It's a common business tactic that I thought you'd be familiar with. ![]()
For instance I could develop sugar pills, but have a company called Hard Cock in Seconds. Then I could spam people with the company name "Hard Cock in Seconds" and sell pills. If they then purchase said pills, thinking that they will have some kind of beneficial effect on their sex life...well...tough rocks.
It wouldn't even be illegal.
Or I could create a company called Genuine Leather and sell Genuine Leather (tm) Shoes for 15 dollars. ![]()
All sorts of deceptions you can pull with company names.

This is the reason why you buy it.
Except of course the standards on pharmaceuticals for bottled water are no better than tap water (i.e. there are none). So...tap water probably isn't the only water that has pharmaceuticals in it. ![]()

well yeah that's all Catholics use anyhow. they sell distilled bottles you can ask a priest to bless, because the priest doesn't want to get suckered into blessing a beer or something else silly. But it's just water you took the trouble to have blessed so you can use a physical token of your agreement with the articles of Faith.
There is holy water out there from places like Lourdes, but that is just water from Lourdes, that was blessed. And if you didn't actually go to Lourdes to get some as a token of pilgrimage, they don't want you waving it around, as if Joe Blow has +5 holy tap water but YOU got +25 Holy Water from the fountain at Lourdes. That's like proscribed for all Lawful Good characters.
