Actually a lot of people here are running to buy smaller cars. There is a definite issue over here with larger engines since now you can't sell a V8 for more than 1/2 the old kelly blue book value.

A truck driver who is in the know estimated 25% of trucking companies have gone belly up and been bought out over this 'spike'.

Many independent truck drivers have been driven out of paying their payments... and in a first in history... no repo's are going on with these 100-400k vehicles since the dealers can't sell ANY trucks. Soon truck manufactorers who cant show a significant fuel savings in their models will be going bankrupt... very soon. We are looking at a true calamity in the United States if this industry takes to much more damage...

finaly the truck will die and trains shall rule again...

american truck drivers are going to have to start buying european trucks because fuel here is 2x more expensive or even more in sum countries and they still manage to turn a profit.

Einstein, things still need to get to other places , until we have a store in front of every house that is :S
and prices of transportation have and will obviously go up so people can keep their profits, but there still hasn't been a big enough movement of people to abandon cars or switch to smaller ones, not on a large enough scale atleast, so no real bad side to high oil prices for most the companies in the oil business

and notice in my post i said "switch to smaller ones", switch was done intentionally, lol by that i meant people who are buying new cars are guna consider smaller or more efficient cars, offcourse they will, how could they not? but the fact is some of the big cars or not efficient cars are still on the road, so gas consumption isn't guna go down too near in the future
