Re: European Policeforce

What I mean is, what if the EU army becomes a toothless tiger because of the unwillingness of the major players like France and Germany to commit to offensive actions? I fear it will be only a peacekeeper army

Re: European Policeforce

The European Policeforce and European Army would end up as jokes thanks to the same bureaucracy that decided the Eurofighter should not have guns (I don't care if there was a good reason for it, I still say it's retarded).
What would the police use? Harsh language?

Seems like you want action for no reason. War is very very costly. What good can a barking dog do if its only a few cm tall? The Belgian army is a joke and the dutch army really isn't that much of a difference. Next to that, having national armies might exactly be the reason why they are less eager to wage one. Everybody feels like their armies should chick out and the others should do it.

Re: European Policeforce

Without wanting to sound like a chauvinistic pig, but there is quite a big difference between the two, LP.
By the way, are you refering to the current European Rapid Reaction Force? Or the creation of a real EU army, where all the national armies will cease to exist?

I wonder how such an army would look like, would all the soldiers need to be able to speak French, English or German? I can see the debates already.. tongue

I imagine a new language would have to emerge first, a language that effectively consisted of all European languages.

I am NOT learning esperanto, it is a horrible clunky, inefficient language.

Like arms also said more or less, it take a lot of investment in the lawbook idd. But without denying the huge price for that I think its worth it. Weren't you some kind of expert WFS or do I mix you up with somebody else of the IC-oldtimers metalheads? Anyway do you think it would be to much trouble if we just let them out?"

The EU has tried to make a unified lawbook, but it failed miserably. Although the EU already makes about 90% of our laws in the first place, people don't seem ready for an international lawbook. To be honest, I was against the unified book as well, as it was too liberal and had too few social accents tongue

If we were assembling a European army, the European commission or parlement would decide about any action. That wouldn't make it a toothless tiger..

Going by their track record? Yes it would.

Whoa, Eurofighter doesn't have autocannon???  Missles have accelerometers that arm the warhead, how would it engage inside arming range, or strafe SAMs, or engage support craft like Bears or E-5 Sentrys?

If you have German cops patrolling Western Europe AGAIN you are like giving $$$ to Jon Stewart, Jay Leno and David Letterman

The core joke of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is that of course no civilization would develop personal computers with instant remote database recovery, and then waste this technology to find good drinks.
Steve Jobs has ruined this joke.

My thoughts exactly.
