Topic: Milky Way: R54 Review / R55 Plan

It's that time again.  What do you guys want differently for next round?  Some thoughts to start:

1) 4 weeks was too short for this round, as some predicted.  It was worth trying still but I think 6 weeks stands as a good sweet spot for now.

2) 100x100 is too big for 9 fams of 6.  I played as a half-active attacker in a mid-level family and am only just now starting to feel the heat of battle.  The map size can easily be reduced by half, if not further.

3) Now that we've tried original resources a few times, I'd like to try the other end of starting resources (100x) again.

Feel free to add to this list, or contest something above.  All input is appreciated.

or are there more glaxies? after 3 weeks im still clueless only see discussions and new thoughts but no straight plan for galaxies..

I also notice that the AttackPhotos are missing suddenly when attacking a planet. After 16years- its a pity to see the basic pictures vanish

If you are going from reg to 100x I'd say 5weeks is enough. You save a week with that starting res. And if it's going to be a smaller map, I bet a lot of the fighting will happen early on.

Don't these points hit the same kind of root causes?

The main issue is 'lack of action'. I think making the round longer solves that, by having the galaxy filled closer to middle of the round (instead of end of the round). Making the galaxy smaller touches that, by having it filled up faster. Adding more start resources touches that as well, by having fams mass explore sooner, filling the galaxy faster.

I don't think adjusting all three the points is a good idea. I agree we should look for more action in the round, but lets change one gear at a time.
6 weeks, smaller galaxy and 100x start resources will result in a predetermined victory, probably in week 4 or so... And thats not what we're looking for either right?

Add ground attack to fighs (airstrike) and air attack to droids (anti air missiles) to  change the fighrunning dynamics.

Make the ds a fam portal - results in more agressive and risky play with ds and speeds up fam expanse => earlier conflict

Change game mode to koth

Introduce attackers ranking (number of grabs done)

Change all text colour to pink because tom dumoulin won the giro italia

Indeed, great feedback so far.

I think my #1 goal is a smaller map size.  Outside of that, the other details are relatively minor.

Supernova will also re-open, but it will probably only be those 2 for awhile until player count gets back on the upswing.  The galaxy listings themselves will be improved but atm that is lower on the list of things to work on.

Fwiw, it's a temporary removal until we get better pics.  The bigger goal of that change was so that you can see your battle results as the very first line instead of having to scroll to the bottom each time.  It should make attacking much faster on mobile in particular.

Yep, you nailed it.  You've got a good point regarding changing one gear, but 4 weeks itself was also a test, so even just changing that back to 6 weeks is less of a gear change and more of a gear reset.

100x resources though is definitely worth reconsidering.  It doesn't have to be black/white either, we can fall somewhere in the middle.

Good ideas LiGhTGuNs!  I dunno if I'd be able to get any of those implemented in time (except KotH, it's already a setting), but those sound great for future rounds.

Don't get too carried away reducing galaxy size/planet count.  I am hoping we have a more active round next round.

Just a few thoughts:

+10/20 RP's for customs would be a slick attempt.
Allow Custom speed to go up to 140/160 speed? (I think at 140 you would have more one tickers then someone at 100 (not sure, but I think that would be the cutoff - been awhile since I figured it out.)
Anyway "The Guide" could make a comeback? I can't seem to find building stats anywhere. smile

Heck 2x would seem like you would be OB on HP by like what.. day 3?
Dunno how much starting strats have changed over the years, but 100x... I would build trannys with that much. big_smile

Even with high starting resources (like in sn) you see big differences in his well players get their econ going. 100x creates some interesting choices regarding investing in science, limiting bureaucracy and saving for offense

6 weeks/ Smaller Galaxy/ Normal Starting Cash And Resources. cool!
This should be about the standard galaxy.
So far we fought 06, 07, and are fighting 14 now with 3 days left in the round. The 1st time we reached rank 3 I had 1 delete. And now we have forged our way back up from rank 6 to rank 3 again. Imagine what could have happened with 2 more weeks muawahahahaa yikes big_smile!

Fwiw 30-min ticks are also being considered.  That would turn 6 weeks into a condensed 3 month round, like the old days but faster.

I think if you make a 30min tick gal then the size should stay the same as the current one. Starting ress should be normal. People are going to be missing ticks of action unless you live to play. But on a separate note; then you may be able to travel from A to B faster also, no?

Yeah it'll increase the pace generally.

We still don't have enough active players to warrant the previous round's size, even with faster ticks.  I do think though that the reduction wouldn't need to be as drastic.  Maybe 70% instead of 50%.

100x100 is just too big for only ~50ish players.
