Topic: Defensively Receiving Morale

What are your guys thoughts on receiving a moral boost when somebody attacks you?

This could literally mean that morale that is "lost" doesn't just disappear into the void, but rather if you are attacked, you gain the morale that your attacker spent to hit you (with the same existing cap).

This could make morale more abundant and prolong battles, while still deterring bashing smaller players.

Any particular pros/cons you can see with this?

Re: Defensively Receiving Morale

This could easily become OP for small families. The current example in Starburst is good. With a rule like this, I could have 100% disabled their attacker's portals and moved on to making the other 2 vulnerable without a problem....and probably still had morale left over to actually do attacks myself.

Re: Defensively Receiving Morale

That's a good point.  If morale was made to not affect ops like before, do you think that would address the issue?

Re: Defensively Receiving Morale

This would kill banker retakes.
Example: A 2 mill 200 planet banker doing a retake on a 2mill 11 planet attacker would loose near 100% morale (due to size) and the attacker in return gets his morale replenished.

Yes, but I'd stop playing tongue

Re: Defensively Receiving Morale

and as LG noted, it's not the only issue.

Re: Defensively Receiving Morale

well as an attacker, if I captured 20 planets, and then as the team retakes these... and I gain morale, lol sounds good to me

Re: Defensively Receiving Morale

Yeah that makes sense, I suppose anybody receiving 100% morale boost from an attack gains too much.

Do you think the concept itself has any merit if the numbers were tweaked?

It seems strange to me that currently you can be in a situation where you are attacked and can't retaliate in the same tick.  This is a problem for both big and small players.

Re: Defensively Receiving Morale

What if the defender received the amount of morale that they would spend if they retaliated?  As in, they would be guaranteed at least a single retaliation for every hit.  It's the opposite of the initial idea.

Inverting LG's example:

A 2 mill 200 planet banker doing a retake on a 2mill 11 planet attacker would loose near 100% morale (due to size), but the attacker only receives a small morale boost.

However, if that small attacker hits the banker, the banker no longer has to wait nearly a whole day to retaliate.

Re: Defensively Receiving Morale

That would be interesting. It would empower morale on bankers. To make use of this we might see more offensive bankerrs.i like it.

Re: Defensively Receiving Morale

maybe if u lose a portal, only then u gain the boost of morale

Re: Defensively Receiving Morale

Just no...

[13:43] <@RisingDown> never thought i'd say it, but TBO actually did something useful.
[13:43] <@arsy> dont let him see you say that

Re: Defensively Receiving Morale

A full 100% transfer of morale wouldn't work. I think if an empireA attacks empireB, then empireB should logically have less of a morale issue with attacking empireA back. An instigator and/or advantage modifier would make sense.
