383; roughly 1/2 of the previous round.

Thnx, that makes for around 2700 planets in whole sn. Thats 60% less than previous rounds
Already filling up fast.
Size win is ussually 10% of galaxy size in sn. 300 might even become a win for size.

Exact planet count is 3077, or ~51 planets per player (60 spots). Last SN round was about ~92 planets per player (6917 planets, 75 spots).
This was a conscious decision to experiment with reducing the planet/production disparity between the top players and everybody else. In theory this should create more competition but we'll see how it plays out in practice.
51 planets a player of which you could secure half (21 to 27 planets) via cores. Leaves just 1500 planets to fight over..
I feel cores are getting too big of an importance here.
I agree, I'm not a fan of them myself.
