Topic: Classic Gal Vote: Disabling In-Game NAPs

A 3rd galaxy will be opening up alongside the Supernova restart.  The general details can be found in the other thread, but one thing I'm considering is disabling in-game naps entirely.

This is admittedly a drastic change.  The primary reason for this is to remove the game's role in dictating how you must play.  There is a legitimate argument that NAP terms can and should be defined by the players, and I personally think the game was better when our diplomatic efforts weren't shoehorned into pre-defined agreements.

The obvious risk is that people will again be able to break naps.  I do believe players and families should be in control of whether or not they choose to honor an agreement.  The game is more interesting when players have freedom to do good or bad, and be rewarded/punished by other players accordingly.

These are just my opinions though.  What matters more is your guys' willingness to partake in this experimental change.   Now's your chance to decide how this next galaxy will play out.

Let's hear what you have to say.

Re: Classic Gal Vote: Disabling In-Game NAPs

I never did like ingame naps. Real world has no "can't attack me" why should a battle game? Pnaps are even worse!
I loved the days of honor my name ECT.

Also

If naps are not included, remember that if someone says "24 hr nap" make sure you clarify 24 ticks... Some people are word tricky little buggers!

Re: Classic Gal Vote: Disabling In-Game NAPs

I like the idea of removing in game NAPs and bringing back honour and trusting people's word. They are very noble concepts.

However, given that it is now possible to hide imperial history, it is all the more easy for people to use alternate empire names and double cross others with little consequence beyond the round that is being played.

People will need to be very careful what they agree and who they agree it with!

I might play this game, but I have more of a life than you

Re: Classic Gal Vote: Disabling In-Game NAPs

How about no attacks availible after a period of time? And then no NAPS?

Re: Classic Gal Vote: Disabling In-Game NAPs

I see the in game coding of naps as more of a convenience. Getting VLs to "witness" and all that takes time. I don't even think I have the TNT template any more. I'd be all for removing pnaps from ingame so you can never be completely safe but I like the ingame nap feature just like how I like the "new" map (not having to click through each system to check cores).

But man is not made for defeat. A man can be destroyed but not defeated

Re: Classic Gal Vote: Disabling In-Game NAPs

I agree with disabling naps, but there shouldn't be agreements in the first place.  Everyone that isnt in your fam should be your enemy (which also gets into not allowing IA's)

Re: Classic Gal Vote: Disabling In-Game NAPs

I'm with no naps in the classic gal, although I do miss Tri-Alliances tongue
