Topic: Attacking and Relative NW/Size

I am new to the game and learning the ropes, playing in Supernova.

I understand that you cannot attack a player that is below 35% of your network without exploding the planet.

However, without naming names, I have just been attacked by someone who has 20 times my networth, i.e I am 5% of their networth.

The planet was therefore made uninhabitable.

However, the player in question was portalled in the system, and just explored my planet straight away before I could do anything.

I don't wish to complain, and I understand this is obviously a game of conquest, but this strikes me as poor design/unfair.

Their ought to be a threshold below which you are unable to attack players at all.

Again, don't want to complain, which is why I haven't named the player, but having read some other posts recently I thought feedback might be appreciated.

Re: Attacking and Relative NW/Size

Did you make a hostile action against them recently?

Re: Attacking and Relative NW/Size

No. I am new to the game but I know that would be a bad idea. I currently have 100,000 networth and have attacked 2 other players. One had around 60k and the other 50k.

Re: Attacking and Relative NW/Size

There actually was a no attack limit in the past. Thing is, that it could be abused. Small players could save up massive resources, jump fleet and surprise the bug guy.

Re: Attacking and Relative NW/Size

Yes, I understand how it could be abused I suppose. Maybe a complete ban on attacks is too crude, but it still strikes me as unfair

Re: Attacking and Relative NW/Size

That 2mill guy got a 100% morale drain, limiting his attacks the ticks after.

Personally Iiked the hard nw cap, because uou can abuse it top down also smile

Re: Attacking and Relative NW/Size

There used to be a complete block on attacking players under 35% nw. This unfortunately doesn't work well in galaxies with more than one player per family so it was removed a while ago I think. I highly recommend playing in the next round of starburst (will start in a week or two) to learn the game. Experienced players in your family will gladly help you out and you can pick things up faster since you can follow along better with what everyone is doing

Maybe so, but there's no way I can take the planet back still. And if I attack him anyway, it means he can then attack my other planets without the 35% penalty, correct?

I will join Starburst when it starts, thanks for the advice

Re: Attacking and Relative NW/Size

I'm not certain about anything in supernova since I never really play there but from my understanding he can already attack you. Lightguns is right that it will cost him 100 morale per attack on you. Depending on how many morale planets he has, he will only be able to make about 3 attacks against you per day assuming that he does not attack any other player. He probably won't keep this up but yes he is being a dick by attacking you

Re: Attacking and Relative NW/Size

Snipe his expo and he'll stop soon enough smile

Haha I'll never understand why people blow planets with more than a minute or two left in a tick

Re: Attacking and Relative NW/Size

What does snipe expo mean?

The player in question has since seen this post and said he didn't like that I was gaining shares on him and that I should send him a permanent nap offer, which I have just sent.

Re: Attacking and Relative NW/Size

Sniping his expo means that you see him blow up your planet and then you also send an exploration ship to that planet before the end of that tick (hour). If more than one person has an expo landing then the game randomly chooses whose ship will get the planet. If you successfully explored it then he would have just spent all of his morale and gotten absolutely nothing. And you should NAP him.

The planet has been taken from you and is therefore not portalled. So you can attack it without fear of hitting his full fleet. Unless he stations a lot on the planet to hold it. Leaving his portals vulnerable and you can then destroy units on the planet and you being way smaller you could do a lot of damage to that fleet having a major NW/morale advantage.
