i noes a bit of html ![]()
if that counts ![]()
I love it all. PHP is awesome, but i cant keep all the server stuff on my pc, so i never use it anymore. :-P
recently started getting hardcore into flash, as sad as that is. Everyone here in ohio only wants to hire Flash programmers anymore. no one needs a programmer that knows J2EE etc.
flash is fun stuff. i was into it years ago, but i had no programming experience and actionscript was way over my head. i'd like to revisit it some day.
what kinda flash stuff do you do? websites? games? site widgets?
currently making websites. i'd like to design games, but i havent yet figured out all of actionscirpt, even though it does look just like java to me...
i'm currently a flash developer working for a large publishing company. doing e-learning and such. people are nice, pay is good, and work is pleasant enough.
i also know php and some java. then there's of course sql, html, javascript and such.
and the compulsory image for the thread:

Mainly Html and CSS here. ![]()
anybody care to share examples of projects, troubles you're facing, cool tips and tricks, etc?
Practical tip: When you're uncertain, mumble. When you're screwed, delegate.
this is as far as i usually get before i need my book for reference

I'm a web developer, mainly PHP, JS, SQL etc.
Currently doing some stuff at eZ Systems.
i'm new to the web developer world... i know HTML and CSS... i want to get into flash but the program cost is just too much for me at the moment
i know a bit of programming..
and i want to learn PHP... where should i start..the complete guide for me
such as..what server should i install (apache i think), where to download it..and PHP tutorial..
looking forward for your help...
Java, perl, PHP, C#, bit of C++, SQL, flash actionscript 3, Cobol
, soon uniface, familiar with JSP and JSF, oh yes also familiar with ASP.NET and ADO.NET
I have some basic html and css skills. I also have so rudimentary knowledge of xml.
I'm not a Web developer or programmer, but during my work as Graphic Designer / Desktop Publisher I run into the stuff from time to time.

Oh, if we're going that way.
PHP
SQL
JS
C#
C++
VB
NXC
Java ![]()
And probably a few more that I can't recall anymore ![]()
how the hell do u guys fit all that in your head?
damn
took me a few months to understand teh fundamentals XD
We have a brain. Works quite well.
i also have a brain ![]()
but it hurts a lot ![]()
I've just started to learn php, I'm ok with HTML but you can't really do anything with HTML any more its all PHP or ASP.NET. I want to ask the same question as Youkai does anyone know a good place to start with learning PHP. I'm on my way through one book but its not very well written. Any good ones other than what I've mentioned below thats good?
to Youkai, a good place to start is http://www.expertsrt.com/tutorials/Matt/install-apache.html thats how to get everything installed and running. I've also been following a book recently "Beginning PHP5, Apache, And MySQL Web Development (2005)" Easily obtained from a torrent ![]()

That's all it is really, the fundamentals. Different languages often have enough in common that once you learn something in one, you're half way to knowing how to do it in another.
to Youkai and Exalted:
http://devzone.zend.com/article/627-PHP-101-PHP-For-the-Absolute-Beginner
zend.com was an awesome resource for me when I first started with PHP. it also just helps to know people who you can ask now and then when you get stuck. Smartys and El Bekko have been a godsend for me when it comes to that sort of thing. Just be careful of asking people for help without searching google for the answer first. It's not hard to tell when people are asking for advice because they're lazy and just want quick answers. I'm personally happy to help when people ask me for advice or opinions on their approach to a specific problem.
C, C++, Java, J2EE development using Websphere product stack, BPMS using Oracle, Websphere, AquaLogic BPM, AgilePoint, Portal development
and ofcourse for a good BPMS project a lot of integration with different products like SAP, CMS, ...
Thanks I like pie, been reading the web-site, and I'll be having ago at the tutorials when I get some free time ![]()
np
btw, i set up #programmers in irc if you, or anybody else reading this is interested
I shall be there!
