Stay in Family option this round: yes or no?
yes yes yes
Why would a poll be needed? That makes zero to little sense, this a team community based game, not to mention it was an option that was taken away from us without reason so should be returned ... I'm glad I don't seriously play anymore ... I mean really tho?

It's a good way to gauge interest which will affect how changes are prioritized.
I can only do so much work at one time. If enough people express interest in a given feature request, it will move up in the priority list.
There's also the fact that some people actually do not want it, as is apparent by the current "no" votes.
Polls are a form of feedback, and feedback always make sense.
Stay in fam wasn't never forced on anyone that I could remember, you could opt out so the nos don't even count.
Don't get me wrong pie, I like you, and appreciate you bringing life back to the game and being active.
However fundamental functions such as are a no brainier no? What could take priority over keeping the community and low player base going and possibly growing?

That's the problem: there isn't just one "no brainer". It's a huge list.
Which "most important" no brainer is the actual most important? Polls like this help me figure that out.
The "nos" absolutely count. Consider if somebody voted no because they'd rather this feature not dig into my time, that's a legitimate vote against putting time into on this.
give people a option remember when u could build chemistry with a group of players thats what made people wanna stay..
I voted yes but there are plenty of reasons that people would have to not want this option for next round. I would expect that the top fams will have almost all of their players return while the bottom fams will likely not have many opt to stay in fam. Since there are only 8 families (I'm assuming it will stay the same for next round) that means that the players who are trying to random in with new people will probably end up with a few of the players in their old fam they were trying to get away from. If some of the better players from bottom fams this round happen to random in with a top fam where only veterans stayed then that makes super fams that have massive advantages in terms of player lineups over the middle and bottom fams for next round. I'm all for letting people play with whomever they want to play with (more drafts can do this too...) but it could be restrictive for some people.
People are looking at the payoff from the option ... it doesn't matter if you want to stay in your fam this round or not, what about next round or the next?
The option has been removed for years now, this is a single chance to bring it back. Sure we can do other things first, but that opens the window for it to never happen and be forgetten about.
Stop thinking of immediate futures, and instead for the better of ic people

Personally myself I wouldn't stay I enjoy to random around, hence the name but I believe it should return

is there an either way is okay for me option? I dont think i would stay in fam, but i am interested to see how the lineups of the current fams would do in another round. Seems like good distribution of goods players in different fams, but mistakes were made so interested to see how people would adapt.
voted yes to see what the poll numbers look like.
Increasing map size, stay in family, and morale change should be the main focus of ic

It's more rigged then the US Election ![]()

Stay in Family option this round: yes or no?
I voted yes, but I feel that scope of the poll is too narrow. The poll asks only 'stay in option this round'.
I am of the opinion that there should be a stay in family option EVERY round, up to a max of say 3 rounds. I believe this is roughly how it used to be back in the day.
Giving a family 2 or 3 rounds together allows enough time to build relationships, refine strategy, coach anyone who randoms in to the family etc. It gives people time to become properly invested and attached to the game.
After the third round, people should be forced to random, which mixes the families up and starts the 3 round process over again, building relationships with different players etc etc.
Yes and while those fams strengthen the lower more unsuccessful fams disband as they choose not to stay in family and you end up creating maybe 3-4 very strong fams and 3-4 in the same unorganized boat as before
i say wait one round.. give everyone fair warning
I do think this could partially be solved by redefining our galaxies. Instead of mixing it up in SB, we could keep it the same and provide this option somewhere else.
That would allow the yes and no voters to each get what they want in some way.
What Hathir said... I've not been playing actively for about 8 years but I've been getting to know my fam over the last few weeks and they're a good bunch of guys - I'd like the opportunity to stay with the group if it's possible.
I agree that stay in fam option could make lower fams lose heart from not getting the change up each round. But the easy fix to that is more smaller fams.
Plus like the old days with the reshuffle every couple of rounds means those super fams aren't a permanent fixture.
Also having a few fams that are really good is cause for more competition. As the lower ranks need to revise their strats and figure out how to bring them down.
I think this whole discussion is pretty close to the discussion to increase the number of drafts.
You just want to be able to play with some people you know and like to play with.
However, you must also mix up the rather limited group of people in this game now every once in a while to avoid the same fams of winning over and over again. If all 8 players in a fam click stay in fam, what then?
So we should limit the number of people that can stay? or make stay in fam lose you a draft spot? This is absolutely not a no-brainer.
And let's not go all agressive on Pie now, he has a huge list of improvement suggestions and things to work on already, and honestly, I think the work he has done so far on IC is pretty amazing. For sure it's more that has been done in all the years before ![]()
For sure - how does the draft system work at the moment, one per family?
