Topic: Solo Mode

I was thinking the other day it might be interesting to see how big you could get on your own. 

My thought was this,  basically you are alone in the galaxy.  You have to play SS.  The planets closest to you would be free for exploration.  But as you moved further out into the galaxy planets would have different defenses, that you would have to overcome.  This could be anything from a few lasers to a million droids.

The goal would be to see how much you can grow and how big you can get in say a months time.  You dont have to worry about being attacked, but you will have to work on your fleet to take those defended planets.

Any thoughts?

Something similar to this is being planned as a training galaxy for new players, that would double as a 1-player high-score galaxy that players can repeatedly run through as much as they want.  It's part of a bigger plan to introduce AI players into the game in certain circumstances.

It would be slightly different than what you describe though, in that instead of only have a single way to play through it, you could play different variants.

For example, you could play as any race you want.  This would allow people to test different strategies, and even play multiple rounds at the same time to compare experiences.  There would be an option for fast ticks to facilitate completion.

Playing alone would be an option, but you could also play with and against AI characters, including within a family.

There would also be "Team" play, in which you can play one of these rounds with a buddy (or several people, possibly as a VIP perk).  You could also use this as a way to train new people.

It's a lot of work, but not impossible.  The idea is to open up the ways in which people can experience the game, and use it as a way to teach new players at the same time.

Theres another idea pie,  let people decide on how long they want the round to be.  could be a week, or a year.  With tick changes liek you said.  Would be very awesome
