The time is here!  Sort of.

Although still a work in progress, the new layout is online and ready to be seen.  Your account won't be switched over just yet though.  Rather, if you're interested in checking it out you can visit the following url while logged in:

Once there, you're in!  So... what's going on here exactly?

Different, but the same.

First off, I want to be clear that this layout does not introduce any new features.  Rather, it is a combination of two primary goals:

1) A reskinning with a focus on mobile usage
2) A rewrite/restructuring of the code itself

#1 is the fresh newness that you see.  #2 is behind the scenes stuff that makes #1 possible.

In other words: the game should work exactly how it did before, but with an improved and more mobile-friendly interface.

Regarding the Map

One of the biggest steps forward is actually a step backward.  The existing map that is used on mobile is now also used for the new layout, regardless of device.  This means that if you're used to playing on your computer, some functionality will be missing.

This was a tough decision, but going forward we will be focusing on a single, universal map.  I do have plans to improve it, but in the short term it may feel a little dumbed down.  This is a temporary, but necessary tradeoff for the design goals I have in mind that will move the game forward.

The existing map will still be accessable for those who prefer it, even after the "hard launch".  Speaking of that:

The Hard Launch

We don't yet have a date for this, but soon everybody will be automatically switched over to the new layout.  The existing layout will eventually be phased out for good, but not until we've adequately addressed feedback and concerns that you guys may have.

A Starting Point

This layout is by no means complete.  It is a starting point.  It's not the prettiest layout, but we'll get there.  I don't doubt that there are bugs, so please feel free to post in the bugs forum if you see anything.  Of course, feedback in general is welcome as well, as are any questions about the new design.
