BOR is to easy to have disparity of NW if you try. I believe it to be the opposite. And if yor whole goal is to infrawhore why did you start this thread in the first place

Don't get me wrong I respect the fact that a mod is trying new things, that is brilliant, it is good were trying new things.
But basically I don't like the new system very much because to me it doesn't achieve enough where keeping new players are concerned. That really we all know that 10 new players join a round and 9 of them are in active in a day, I would also wager some of those so called "New Players" are actually spy and double accounts.
Okay so lets just say for example 10 noob players join a round.
5 of them are new players
5 of them are double accounts or spy accounts or whatever else
So we have 5 new players, who join up on the www. site, who find a out dated forum, who struggle to understand the guide, who find no training videos, no tutors or mentors, no training galaxies and what happens?
They log in and click around for 20 minutes, they have NO IDEA AT ALL what is happening, they jump some lasers fighters and living quarters in their home world and then log out and never return. Honestly we have all seen totally new players play and what happens? Your lucky if they manage to explore more than 6 or 7 planets in a round.
Guess what I'm saying is that if the objective is to attract and to keep new players then really we would need a fixed game / better training / better advertising / maybe people willing to tutor again and so on. Honestly I have landed in entire families of inactive players family #1973, Come at me bro(38,87) been the prime example.
New players don't run away from this game because of morale or been attacked, they run away because they don't know how to play and don't know what's happening, probably a good 95% of them join up expecting some free StarCraft type of game.
I see IC Deaths point, why upset the top 30 or 40 active players all to try and protect the 4 or 5 new players a round, maybe 1 of whom is active if that.
In my eyes if changing the morale rules made 10 new players stay every round then it would be worth it.
Currently I cant see any NEW players that it is helping? I can however see some vets taking advantage of it.
But I cant see the hoards of new players that are staying as a result?
A lion is fighting a horde of tuna in the middle of the ocean, the lion will die. It does not take advantage of its strengths and thinks its size and weapons will matter in an enviroment they are strictly ineffective.
Either become a shark or drown. The tuna wont care about a silly lion.
Yeah I see the idea there, I see the point.
But don't you think this game is complicated enough for a "New Player" without needing to be a lion tuna fish ninja.
That okay maybe us vets can take advantage, keep low, black mail big families.
But like who knows maybe a new player needs to learn how be a lion before he can ever be a tuna fish.
Put that in your book of war ![]()
UK it's the community dude ... never has been friendly so people don't stick around. Mix that in with the fact 90% of families run a fan bank that is massively boring, informative, and vast amounts of leaders still are have very poor leadership ... can't blame people for leaving.
Also I highly doubt ic gets no more than maybe 3 new players each round, it's always guys that say they've played years ago got bored ome day amd wondered if the game was still around or just multi accounts

How a war game should work....... You have a war, you win, or you lose. If you lose, then for you the game is over.
How IC works..... You have a war, you win or you lose. If you lose, the game isn't done. Now you have to stick around for the next few weeks and try to catch up.
Everyone seems to think the problem is "farming". But I don't think that's it. I think it's that there's no "lose". You don't at any point just lose the game and then it's over. Instead you lose the game, and then you have to stick around for several weeks.
The problem with the new moral system is actually the same problem that the old moral system had only amped up higher. It gives an advantage to lower players. Which makes no sense, and doesn't solve any problem. The higher player SHOULD have an advantage. That's why you try to be the higher player.
There are three separate problems. One problem is the so called "farming", which I think the real problem there is that you don't just let people die. The second problem is that after you lose, you don't die, you just keep playing as a loser, and who wants to do that. And the third problem is the moral system. The moral system is trying to fix the first two problems, but It's causing it's own problem.
The solution is hardcore. Let people die. You die, then you play again. But when you lose, and have to stay around and play as a loser for 3 weeks, that just sucks.
I think the solution is to just let people win and lose. I think people can handle losing. The thing that I think drives people away is when you don't really lose, you just sit there and try to catch up, and the other family slowly drains you.
I guess we all have different views / different concerns, for me however it simply boils down to 2 questions:
A) How many "New" players are we getting per round?
B) How many of those "New" players are now staying due to the changes in morale?
My only answer to that question would (0) new players staying as a result of the morale change.
Like stated if changing the morale system made 10, 20, even 50 new players stay per round, then okay fine.
But it doesn't do that.....
In my eyes we would need a new version of the game, new chat function, new player friendly, advertising. That as it stands at the moment a new player coming here is stepping onto a sinking ship.
To me this is like watching the crew of a ship saying:
"Captain, captain the life signs scanner doesn't work any more, and the light on the coffee pot has also stopped working"
When in reality the ship is heavily damaged / venting oxygen into space / engines are almost catching on fire / huge chunks of the hull are floating off into outer space, its quickly becoming a derelict a total ghost ship, it has maybe 100 bigger problems than a life signs scanner or coffee pot. In other words the game has far bigger problems than morale rules or family bank options.
If you looked as IC like a space ship then really we would be floating off into deep space, for decades we have flown, fought, explored all in the exact same ship. Putting it blunt the ship is now foooooooked, it heavily battle damaged, its rusting to bits, half the systems no longer work, food, fuel, ammunition are all desperately low, we are in effect the "Red Dwarf" of the galaxy, some backward scavenger team who barely limps by looting other derelict ghost ships.
Undeath's plan to change morale is more like running over to a leaking window and trying to seal it.
My attempts to get the family news editor working again is like hitting the coffee pot until the light comes back on.
Were making little changes here and there but really "The Ship As A Whole" is still screwed.
My new games shop is the prime example, 200 year old building, so how do we make it a flag ship?
We rip it all out and start again..... IC doesn't need more crew, it needs a ship builders port.
If I was at the helm Id spin the wheel to the nearest space dock and head to port for serious repairs or an entire new ship.

It wasn't his plan.
Not sure how many times it has been said, this morale thing was not mods' idea. However we keep trying to adjust it to make it work better and this will take a while.
So you die and wait 3 weeks for a new round?/or longer if it's last person standing. Ya that sounds fun and exciting . especially for player retention....
the entire system is flawed.. the morale system sucks.. making the war option is stupid.. and now u plan a few rounds of this shit so u can edit and adjust accordingly.. nice job keeping ur core base players I see u losing quite a few of them..
It wasn't his plan.

Yeah understood KT and don't get me wrong I'm not blaming Undeath or the mods.
In fact I'm happy IC is trying new things, I encourage change and think its well overdue.
I'm just not sure how effective the morale change has been at keeping new players.
The idea seems to be change morale to protect new players and encourage them staying.
But I don't see any new players, just the occasional returning vet.
Like you say its just trail and error figuring out what works best, your right it will take time.
If I understand the basic idea behind the moral system, it's to give the small guy an advantage. That concept just doesn't make sense to me. The small guy SHOULD get beaten up.
^Why because due to the unfortunate fact that IC lacks members hes stuck with 2 active players against the lopsided 1 or 2 large fams?
What LG just said plays its role, we did have more players years ago so we had more targets to pick from.
I think now we have less families overall we should have less NAPS allowed. Honestly with like 8 active families you only have to NAP 2 or 3 of them are your quickly out of targets when you factor in NW and morale as well.
If it was my choice I'd allow 1 ally family or PNAP per round.
Preferably an allied family so you can see their forum as well and get to know players in other families.
Having allies made the game more enjoyable. Made for a lot more interaction between players. The forums were more active.
When we only have enough players for 7-8 families, we don't have room for alliances... people complain about lack of targets, well having allies would cut your possible targets down even further ![]()

We'd love to have more playable galaxies, but we don't have the players for it.
sad enough with this morale system u need to take more feed back from players and implentment it.. their are no more NEW players like UK said its nothing but returning vets.. and it breaks old vets hearts to see what the game they loved when they were in high school, college, or hell even using as a small hobby has become.. where just ur low nw u get rewarded with more attacks and less morale loss.. its not possible to implentment new changes and then none of the mods play expect 1.. that's dumb if u casted a poll right now I bet u the morale system now to previous the old will win.. nobody likes this its clear maybe 1 or 2 people.. but the majority has already spoken.. now I'm done bashing it.. like I said I'm done after this round anyway.. game is just getting outta hand here.. shit makes no sense and seems nobody cares about the vets that still playin.. just people gasping at invisible new players that are supposedly gonna renew the game lol smh.. (aint no damn new players)

Deal with it
Death you say your gonna quit IC every round anyways lol.
FIX - have attack bonus affect moral loss.
make fams smaller 5 people fams you could do allies prefer not so you got more targets to fight
remove ops on morale back to old style 7 ops availble get every tick new 1 saves morale lose and gives morale more to retake so rest fam can assist in atacks
off course small fams should have little more protections vs bigger fams but not that much morale formula make the calculations llittle lower in place retake 1 planet and lose 100% morale make it 25 or 33%
I returned to ic this round to play and have fun, all i can say is that im still waiting for the fun part. and sadly these new changes really takes ALL the fun out of it, there's no doubt what is the problem..
I dont have to think it trough, its an easy decision and im not going to "deal whit it", ill let undeath deal whit it while im going to leave it for some other online game..and im not alone. Its just sad.
Atm im only sticking around beeing semi-active cuz i dont want to abandon my family mid round but as soon as round is over then im out unless mods can get their finger out and make miracles happen, but whit their activity i really doubt that..
Same thing coolspin, back for a round, but it's gonna be my last...
