Topic: In My Day
IN MY DAY going to a new Star Wars movie meant something! We didn't have VCRs or cable TV and the movies weren't on TV anyhow so you had to remember the movies from like six years ago, unless you were lucky enough to live in a huge city and a few theaters would show the movies again.
But for 90% of the country it was history! You got there three hours early to stand in line to pay $3.00 for a movie ticket and went into this big dark room with plush seats and no noise, and you were super quiet and just waited in the dark for the magic to happen. Not like today where you buy the tickets in advance with your phone and you have the phone with you the whole time, and the ticket is $13.00.
Back then you had to remember who was what in the films and there were only 8 guys that mattered so it wasn't so hard. Now you got 1500 characters, they all know each other and you see them every week on Clone Wars and Rebels. We didn't have weekly spinoffs in my day! We only had the odd made for TV special! And man did they stink!
Not to mention all the drama has been sucked out of Star Wars! We won the Cold War so now the Empire is just a phase everybody went through! In my day we had the Bomb hanging over our heads and the thought of kicking an Evill Empire in the balls was like a prayer to Jesus! You guys don't even get it! And then there's the whole family thing that got dragged out because you didn't want to believe Luke was Darth's son! Now everybody is related and was either built by Anakin or clones of somebody's dad!
You don't know how easy you have it! You don't DESERVE another Star Wars movie! NyaahhhH!
Steve Jobs has ruined this joke.
