Topic: Deleting of inactive members

I'd like the idea of having an option to delete fam members.
Something like a vote of all the players, if 80% votes him inactive he then can be declared inactive and his realm can be turned to dust.

Allready before start i can see who will be inactive, they never log in and probably didn't build a que for BOR.
If i'm not mistaken i got 3 like this in my fam. Sadly enough the galaxy is filling with players who want to play and it wouldn't be in our fam because of those filling up spots.

If they do not respond in 2 days by PM, we should get the option to vote for this and remove them instant, they can ruin a round for people who do wanna play.

Would like to see this also.

Re: Deleting of inactive members

This is up for discussion, I agree that inactive members like that at BOR can be crippling and we should find a way to avoid that if possible.

Voting like that might have it's own activity-related issues - how many votes does it need to work? how do we prevent abuse?

I had the idea that at time start, the game could check to see when the last login of a player was. If it was over 72hrs ago, then it would flag them for deletion automatically.

thoughts?

Inactive and/or delete?

Won't people abuse it to get in an other family?  Maybe use your idea + leadership decision?

Re: Deleting of inactive members

How about flag for deletion after 72 hours, but have the fam leader responsible for deletion, so the fam can take planets before deleting the inactive?

Leader is already flagged via the [last login] tab

Re: Deleting of inactive members

how long are they inactive before leader gets that msg?

we also need a function to pass all there stuff to the fam smile

nothing worse someone going inactive with 100 planets and fam bank for 3 days.

Never knew the reason why only the leader gets the msg of inactivity, it should show up for everyone

Not particularly sure why this would be necessary.  Especially since intra-fam attacks no by default cost 0 morale, so when the leader places the "Inactive" tag on someone, it will actually mean they're inactive.

Re: Deleting of inactive members

Guess the whole fam should see when someone is inactive for x days, not that they can delete them
but at least they will have the knowledge about it ?
A leader can say he's inactive but only he knows for sure
When it's displayed for everyone they all know whats the deal

Re: Deleting of inactive members

Like a vote for leader you should give every fam member a second vote for inactive
If 80% of the fam members declare someone inactive AND the mods can see they didn't logged in for 48hrs
This player should be removed.

Abuse?
No because at least 80% (this can be finetuned) has to vote him inactive and the mods have to see if they didn't logged in the last 48hrs. And this should happen the moment registration starts, like leadership can be voted.

Yeah someone who fails to get online for 2 days will be deleted whilst it isn't there fault because their internetprovider has faults or whatever but this active guy will eventually find another fam to play very active

Re: Deleting of inactive members

After 48 to 72 hours the fam leader should be able to just designate which of the inactive's planets are handed-over to which family member, along with fleet, science points, etc.

The planets should get handed-over with defenses and infra (including portals).

If you wanted to have some fun with this, since you would be creating the code for this hand-over, why not create a new op with it?

Call it 'orchestrate coup'. It could only be successful on empires of players who have not logged in for more than 24 hours.  Or maybe you could make it doable on active players too?  Instigate coup would have to be a very difficult op, and maybe unique only to one of the races.  If successful, it would allow the opper to have a certain percentage of the targets empire's planets (including a certain percentage of their fleet, science points, infra, resources, etc.) simply handed-over to them.

Suddenly, the opper could gain ported planets in enemy systems. For this reason, the op should be very difficult, and usually only work to get 1 or maybe 2 planets, but, potentially, if the opper's agents / nw ratio is very much in their favor and if the target empire has been inactive for a very long time, the opper could get a very significant number of planets, fleet, etc., maybe even as much as 30%.  You could make the probability of success of the op and the percentage of planets, fleet, science points, etc. to be handed-over greater the longer the target player has not logged-in.  So, if the fam does nothing about their distributing their inactive players' planets, fleet, etc. among themselves, another fam could get it.  wink

You could also use a variation of this code to allow selling of planets, fleet, science points, etc, on market.

I suppose I'm still of the opinion that if you as a family vote someone as leader, you should be willing to trust them hmm  If you think your leader is marking people inactive that aren't inactive, than they shouldn't be your leader.

I remember when the whole galaxy could see who was inactive in any family. They changed it so only leader but I agree that the family should see it not just leader.

As for the leader being able to delete inactives at the click of a button, I can see abuse with this already from deleting players they dont like to illegal drafting. I do agree there is a problem and it has been in discussion with the mods about what to do with the players who join the family during registration and never log in again and then you have to wait 2 more days to kill them off.

Right, so what are we waiting for?  Can we get this going?  Any other feedback?

Is it necessary? Nope!

Necessary? a big YES
People sending aid to inactives is a big mistake during round
They believe they are active and send, untill the leader tells them to not send anymore because the leader and only the leader will see the inactivity time.
By then there can be a whole fam bank send by mistake to a person who will get killed of eventually.
