Is there a major advantage to using them?

Is there a reason why i dont see anyone use it in most guides?

DS can be used strategically when you're part of a small family, it will allows you to maintain your small number of systems and at the same time grow by pushing players out of surrounding systems. I actually bought out max number of DS in 2 previous rounds and it was very helpful. We gained a lot.

Bigger families don't bother b/c the gc they waste will push back their growths and won't be able to keep with the other families.

I miss those rounds where you can mass build DS at the very first tick, cause of the 100 NW start.

sabbin' 75% o' th' planets n th' systems portals an' then easily takin' those planets with small amounts o' fleet.
