Topic: Suggestions for Starburst next round

Please feel welcome to post any ideas.  My main wish and hope is to get smaller fam sizes.  I haven't done any number crunching but I feel 7-8 would be perfect.  I think the current setup lends itself too much to one or two fams running away with it all.

we did the small teams,, to many teams without leaders,

8 works well same setup,

and it was longer this round too (  very nice)


maybe we can try longer then 2 day attacks without attacks, at start,


make the map bigger, maybe few more system,   so team can be spread out,

why is it every round team as put so close together with massive gaps elsewhere????

Waiting longer for attacks is not a problem to do at all. However it is tied with the ops. So if that isnt an issue it is an easy fix. How long did you guys want to hold off on attacks and ops?

the map this round was very ok. the problem was with players.
fam size ok.
could work on map size and systems.
and pace at start of round smile)
a lot of early wars destroyed some fams.

but some managed to rebirth after being last spots and now are on top.

We can always change the map size. Do you want it smaller or larger for more working room so families have time to build before getting killed?

Bigger map? More or less systems?  We can't put in the exact amount of systems it's more like a roulette wheel and have to keep trying until we get close. tongue

There was more than enough systems I felt. Was a long estate. Maybe because of the early wars.

just make smaller fams and have some more fams  and remove perm nap

We have 20, 30, 40, 60, 100, 120, 140 & 160 we are able to choose from.

Then do 160 then.

9 teams of 8. Then increase to 9 or 10 when needed

Why bigger map? With same amount of systems, doesn´t it mean we have to fight wars over longer distances when systems are not that close to each other?

Of course you can NAP right away when shares have been dealt with, but that is boring.

If ppl want to fight wars for longer time and spend less time doing infra jumps, we should have smaller map with the same amount of systems. Or even with more systems.

Yes, Zanharim. That would be every attackers dream. And being there are only 10 or so good attackers in the game now, not much fun for everyone else.

and zan lets be real, you make a small map everyone will be napped by 2 weeks in,

with a bigger map,

maybe team will just not nap because you are 5 ticks from eachothers home systems.

bigger map focuses on team rather then 1 attacker making all the moves, as he needs team to help.

I'd be up for a big map. Takes more skill if your attacking 4 ticks out and not just tick wars. Probably be less wars though and more people holding a core.

not if you postpone attacks, so everyone will have a chance to explore and portal other fam's cores..

What you have to keep in mind is the bigger the map (increased travel times) or the more systems/planets and you require more time to fully explore the map. Recently this hasnt been an issue as smaller maps has resulted in closer proximity of families and more fighting early in the round however at a cost in latter stages of the round hence people asking for early round finishes.

One potential is for days without attacks being extended to allow for a more thought out exploration phase (as used to be the case in the days of 100 families)allowing for greater number of shares etc  followed by a all out no punches barred fighting phase. This will possibly create a few larger battles opposed to the petty expo scuffles.

Due to a virulent strain of moronic mods, your population are worried they will spawn some of their own therefore they have resorted to wearing mod-idoms. Pop growth is reduced by half.

Families 9
Players 8
Attacks/opps 4 days
Bigger map 160*160
Systems around 700-750
Slightly longer round


The drafts are still ok with you guys?


We can always try other ideas the round after if you would like.

ya drafts are good. I didn't use them but i think most people would like to see it stay. I would suggest that you can have 1 attacker - must be camaar or wardancer and 1 that must be pax - rev - quantom

Attacker draft shouldn't be confined to preset races. Allow custom attacker races.

I like this, only thing i would edit is 1 week attacks/ops so folks can get expoed and war instead of just all pnap, also id take pnap out
