Anybody play? Great improvements in the series. Best trade mechanics by far and still hard as hell to play.

It depends on your type of game style. CK2 is more about dynasty relations...while EU4 is more about overall country relations.


AND! There is a converter to transfer CK2 games to EU4 tongue

A nice game started as Muscovy...converting to Mother Russia...and then curbstomping everybody in my path. I've got Lithuania in a Personal Union, so they are my Euro bitch, and since Poland always tags along with them, it's a 2 for 1 deal. Helped Sweden kick the shit out of Denmark (yay) so now we are bff's. Spending all my time now leeching down into asia, india, and indonesia. I also (not pictured) own entirety of Mexico, thanks to vasseling and annexing the aztecs, and the entire area west of the mississippi river in north america. Now, if I can conquer Japan and take control of the Nippon trade node, I can funnel all NA trade to there instead of collecting, and then finally make the my trade chain super rich!

Also, Conquest of Paradise comes out in just under 3 days. I think I'm going to have to buy it, from what I've seen so far. Completely random American (North and South), 20 new Tribal nations to play as or conquer, plus new trade node to screw your euro buddies over with. Not to mention, the colony function has been fixed and upgraded!

Oh, and if you want to play EU4 and not deal with this before it's patched for a fix again, I wouldn't buy or DL it just yet. Stick to 1.5V until it's fixed.

Wait...as intelligent as you claim to be, you can't meet the learning curve of EU4? I'm not even good at it, but I understand how and why everything works. Well, except for 1.6/ WoN...this new patch/DLC  I've only got about 10 hours in and I'm still figuring out all the tricks.

There you are!

I'm actually loving some of the new 1.6 features, particularly Power Projection, policies, and the new macro interface.

That being said, this patch is REALLY forcing me to adapt my native game.  Plus, in general, conquering one or two provinces generally cuts out my ability to use Power Projection after the first conquest or two, as most enemies become too small to be rivals. *sigh*

Actually, I think you may fare a little better trying the new stuff as a native.  In Europe, you're technologically advanced enough to where everything, including pirates, fervor, inland trading, etc..., will all come at you at once.  With the natives, you won't need to deal with many of the issues until time has passed, you've met Europe, and you've had time to learn some of the features.

Finally... Flint, I am disappointed!

Yeah, it doesn't affect my gameplay style much since I'm not a huge WC fan. I set specific goals for each game and go! I think I've only done a WC game once with the Otto's.

Those damn rebels are still a bit nasty though even without expanding rapidly. Harsh threatment ftw!

I forgot about harsh treatment!  And I generally have a ridiculous amount of spare military points anyway in the early game!  You may have just fixed my game, Arby.  smile

That being said, my native games aren't as much WC as "get myself big and scary so Europe doesn't immediately gobble me up once they see my people aren't white."  You'd be surprised how difficult it is to stay alive as a native if you haven't taken the time to crush every possible future ally beneath your heel before Europe arrives.
