Warhammer, firstly this current setup was done with player input. We cannot bring back stay in family as that has been broken for some time now and our only dev left. That leaves us with Stefan who hasn't been able to work out how it is broken.
As for the numbers, you realise the number of players required for 9 fams of 10 players is less than is needed for your 20 fmailies of 5-6 people. (90 vs 100-120). Now given we have about 60 atm, yes changes are going to need to be made.
You seem to be a pro small families, and that is well and good, I am too. However the issue lies in that one half of the players left want it set up one way (large families) and one half want it set up the other way (small families). So no matter what we do we have a segment of the community who are displeased with our decision.
As for the no-deletion policy, the idea behind it is there are only a handful of players in this game that are super active, you get them deleting and re-randoming until they are all together (which is what some of them do) then you end up with one family that wins every round and farms all of the other families. No deletion requires you to be civil to one another because you never know when you will play together, and requires you to give it a shot together. If you have someone random into your family and then go inactive because they don't like a player in there name and shame them. This also applies to having more than 1 draft. I personally am opposed to any drafts, but the players asked for a draft and so we gave them a draft. The problem with more than one draft is those super active players will draft together, be over dominant and no one else gets a round.
While the current setup isn't perfect, it shouldn't be leveled solely at the feat of the moderators, given that we were acting with player input. As for not knowing the game, every single one of us was a player first, and we still play. We understand how the game works and we understand how to play.
Finally, I am moving this to feedback, as it isn't universal news.

Difference is the amount of people per fam. With the random system not working well there would be less disparity with smaller groups. Smaller groups of active players have a better chance  (one player can pull a team of 5 but not as easily a team of 9) it comes down to math and it generally evens out teams.

I agree you can't please everyone.  The idea was talking about problems not ignoring them.

You must have misunderstood my section: You either need to fix stay in fam or use drafting, attempting to limit deletions and keep it random for a round is not a solution and leaves everyone unhappy.

Did not level it at moderators but at the administration which unfortunately you happen to be at the bottom of.  It works that way in the real world as well as games.  A bug happens in WOW they talk to mods (Complain) if you arent prepared for it one wonders why you volunteered for it.

I would have preferred stay in fam over drafts but if its not possible so some kind of draft system is needed because with the limited pool of people and how the random system works teams gets stacked anyway.  I would rather have more people build fams than a limited amount of randomly stacked families.  I have no problem with having 5 people other than the fact one is inactive, another decided to go play with himself in the corner, and leaves us with 3 vets in a bad location.  I can just say well shit happens and ignore some of the larger fams with 8-9 people while wondering how they ended up the way they did but with the limited number of people left in the game leaving it all up to random chance with no way to delete means essentially we are flipping a coin for every player to see if they will keep playing.  (another option would be to consolidate fams before round started)

i told even i made a mistake cause i didnt think so many would leave this round.. well i wont even bother to play this round til this is fixed..  reset or something im sure alot of others will agree
