we owned 100% of the planets in the system,

3 planets total,

we lost 1 planet, dropping our total count to 2 of 3 planets in the system

66.667%

and our DS was destroyed.

What does it do?
Think of the Defense Station as a Death Star... it will destroy one third of an attacking force per attack! It is very durable, and will only be destroyed if your family is reduced to less than 25% of the planets in a system one is covering.

To my knowledge, placing a DS goes on percentage owned, blowing up a DS goes on percentage planets owned of the total number of planets in the system. So while you may own 2 planets, you probably own 5-10% of the total planets in the system. It isn't a bug, and it has been reported many many times.

Yes Gwynned is right, it happened to me several times despite i know the risks. Its good tactic to move a ds to a system where u have just 1 planet strongly defended, but very risky when u have more than 1 not strongly defended.

Its still buggy if you look at it from a players perspective, you can place it while not owning 25% but it gets killed when somebody takes a single planet cos you dont have 25%... Just bullocks.

Its intended to be confusing? Tell that to a designer please

Destroying is based on system amount planets
Placing is bases on owned planets.

If you dont see the flaw yet you might need glasses. This is a design error,
