In late March, President Obama took a week-long trip through Europe which included a stop of less than 24 hours in Brussels, Belgium for meetings with the European Union and NATO. The president stayed at The Hotel, a twenty-seven story hotel in the center of the city. The estimated cost for the president's stay, including about two weeks for an advance team, was $1,522,646.36.

Despite reports that the president travelled with an entourage of 900, the Justification and Approval documents only indicate a need for "283 Lodging Rooms." However, sometimes more than one hotel is used during VIP trips. For instance, when the president travelled to South Africa for Nelson Mandela's funeral, five different hotels were used.

Contracts for lodging have not yet been posted for the president's other stops during his Europe trip, which included the Netherlands and Rome, Italy.

I'm so glad my gov spend our tax money on great leader Obama, but then again, the responsibilities of my gov has no boundaries. It costs us 700.000€ directly. I'm also glad so many people in Brussels sacrificed their time freely in traffic jams like me or the ones that stayed at home. Its no problem because we also got something back in return: a speech and the sight of some impressive transport vehicles.

Has it occured to you the extra money may have been for extra security arangments the hotel would not have otherwise had? You know since he is the President of the United States of America and everything... Still if next time he goes to Europe he wants to stay in some rundown budget place there will be lots of places desperate for the trade.

Sorry, your bunkers in Belgium house the mid-range tac nukes you still have here. Or, officially, dont have here, coz thats what OUR government keeps telling us (Luckily you americans werent as hypocrit about it, but seems we signed some treaty we cant admit it, so our politicians keep lying even while the americans have allready admitted it. Some agreements are too silly for words). And lets be honest, having your president killed would be bad, but not having those nukes secure would be a disaster, so i guess it's a matter of priorities tongue

You make a good point there. I never understood why they picked Brussels in the first place, with our poorly organized Belgian traffic infrastructure. They must have thought something like "hell, take Belgium, its a mess anyways."

But they do it all wrong. There are official records of who and how many, and they don't even have to perform hard labor. That way they cost money. Also the way the courts work is to expensive. No really, we can learn something from the Russians here. Simply send them to jail to work and let the guards do their thing.

I just wonder if he realizes how badly he is going to get beat by "street thugs" if Hillary wins. Suddenly his Secret Service Detail all needed to use the restroom at the same time, and those bruises will take two weeks to fade.

And do not think it will not happen ongoing until he hires his own security, including for his family, lol. Hillary is not a nice lady.

Hey that is just Obama being friendly, he does that to his closest pals in Hollywood too! See when he comes to a Hollywood mansion to raise money, he not only has to shut down everything along the road he takes to get there, he has to shut down three alternate routes too to prevent an ambush! AND the Los Angeles International Airport, even if he lands at an Air Force base 30 miles away! You're being treated like an American citizen for a day!
