The moose, think of the moose!

Re: I for one do not welcome global cooling

I dont see what it has to do with global cooling, the article says that getting frozen is a pretty common way to die for an elk.

Re: I for one do not welcome global cooling

I would say freezing is, but not being frozen in a flash in water....

Re: I for one do not welcome global cooling

" Last week, Inger Sjøberg, came across a moose stuck and frozen in Kosmo Lake. Poor guy. The NRK reports that it is the fourth most common cause of death for moose (also known as European elk) after hunting, traffic, and bears."

i would say freezing in a lake is yes:)

Re: I for one do not welcome global cooling

yikes

we can hunt elk by digging holes and putting water in them

Can't freeze nothing, with what you don't have.

silly key

there are ways of finding water with cactus that you easterners don't get

you find a big barrel shaped cactus

you get a big knife

you hide behind the cactus, jump out and mug somebody for their water

Re: I for one do not welcome global cooling

You do know that it's illegal for many Oregonians to put out, "rain barrels"?  Because rain is supposed to be unrestricted water that fills the watershed of lakes and rivers.  Therefor it's illegal in many rural counties.  Even though the rain trapped in those barrels could have been used during times of drought.  In fact many states will not allow the building of privatized water towers which are not located on farms, for the direct use by farmers for crops.

And your anology reminds me a lot of the movie, Ice Pirates.

Re: I for one do not welcome global cooling

Of course it's illegal. You can't maintain a fascist government over people who can take care of themselves. It'd be ridiculously obvious how oppressive and tyrannical that government was.

Also, if you don't drink the fluoride and other poisons they put in the water, your kids won't be as stupid and docile and easy to control!

Are you saying people in that bright blue state of yours are smarter than the average American, or that we can be stupid even without our water supply poisons?  ^_^

Re: I for one do not welcome global cooling

What does fluoride have to do with global cooling/warming?

Re: I for one do not welcome global cooling

What does the illegality of rain barrels have to do with global cooling/warming?

Owned.

[I wish I could obey forum rules]

Re: I for one do not welcome global cooling

smile Because the illegality of the rain barrels has to do with a specific law, that rain water abides where it drops in "natural surroundings and nature itself".  It was only later that lawmakers concluded that watersheds couldn't be refilled DUE to the interference of man, because man would trap it in unnatural ways.  Hence the illegality of rain barrels.

That was stated to show that lawmakers prefer that nature takes it's course, but only when it doesn't interfere with the belief of the State.

If we can interfere by making sure ALL the water doesn't reach the aquafier, by trapping it before it can naturally gain entry, then it's a man made decision to ALTER the environment.  We are also altering the ecosphere of the planet by diverting resources to areas, that do not naturally have those resources to begin with, thereby altering the landscape.

SO man, does effect ALL surroundings through the use of business structures.  Now some of those structures may serve a valuable purpose to an end.  Some of those purposes I would find questionable.  I fully believe that the "Cap and Trade", used by many manufacturing plants, have failed, and continue to produce harmful gases and toxic waste which could conceivably alter our own atmosphere.

And that's where you and I diverge on the subject.

Put up, or shutup.

Awwww. But it doesn't show that, since the amount of rainwater trapped by man is statistically (and absolutely) insignificant! Clearly, those lawmakers didn't act on behalf of "nature."

My point stands. You're a hypocrite. Your reference was off-topic. And you don't know anything about conservation.

Furthermore, this thread is not a serious discussion of "climate change," so I can hardly hijack it.

Re: I for one do not welcome global cooling

Yikes!  Its true, global cooling is coming and I have 100% undeniable evidence.  I can not find not one web page article from 100 years ago that mentions moose being frozen in ice, therefore since the industrial age moose freezing has jumped from 0% of deaths to being the number 4 killer of moose!

Re: I for one do not welcome global cooling

You'll need years of steady progress on the cooling front to show proof of a cycle event.  Even Spock knows that.

Global warming is a fact, linked through the theory that it steadily got worse since mass production hit stride back in the 1940's.

Global warming is a man made event!

Cause 15 years of a trend is clearly too short.

Re: I for one do not welcome global cooling

Since 1940's?  And the last 15 years was still showing a lot of heat?  A cycle would show if the next 75 years, if all the sudden temperatures were dropping.  When I say 75 years, I mean 75 years from the beginning of this year into the future.

Re: I for one do not welcome global cooling

Wow. He was serious.

No knowledge heating trend which has been going on for thousands of years ago. Or that CO2--which he blames for the supposed heating trend caused by man--has historically risen after temperatures, suggesting it's more a result, not cause of, climate changes.

Why are you sharing your opinion on the topic, Key? You know absolutely nothing about it. Your positions are completely arbitrary. You offer absolutely no evidence whatsoever for anyone to consider. Your posts are spam without pretense of being anything else.

What is this nonsense? "cycle event"? That doesn't mean anything.

Key wrote:

Again, incoherent and doesn't mean anything. Facts are established through significant evidence and a lack of contrary evidence, not "linked through the theory" blah blah blah blah.

The earth was warming before mass production/the '40s too, so that evidence--it's not a theory, look up the words--is hardly conclusive.

What is this, kindergarten politics? "It kept getting warmer after mass production picked up, so it's PROVEN that we're causing warming!" is completely irrational. It's not even an argument. Spamming talking points that don't make sense is not discourse.
