Topic: The Obamacare Challenge (For US Citizens only)

So I want to see what your prices would be for insurance! You do not need to name yourself, your region, your city, income, or medical history. Just search to find your price per month, your deductible, and other relevant cost information.

Sadly us Oregon residents are not able to play this game just yet (The Oregon Exchange is not up, nor is there any hope it will be up before March).

I think this will be quite an eye opener!

Everything bad in the economy is now Obama's fault. Every job lost, all the debt, all the lost retirement funds. All Obama. Are you happy now? We all get to blame Obama!

Re: The Obamacare Challenge (For US Citizens only)

I could get bronze for $174 a month, and have 0%  doctors visits, 0% drugs and a $5500 deductible.

Since I don't have $174 a month and 70% of doctors in this state won't take it, screw it.

Re: The Obamacare Challenge (For US Citizens only)

I pay $86 a month for a HRA. Covers 100% on preventative care, and maximum out of pocket of $3,000 (includes prescriptions).

I am not signing up for an exchange, as it's a complete waste of time. My income alone prevents me from receiving any subsidies, so it's going to definitely be more expensive and less beneficial than what I have currently.

Re: The Obamacare Challenge (For US Citizens only)

Arby you can go into the exchange to see what you would get without formally signing up now.

You read it right here ladies and genlemen.  The denouncer of the health care exchange has told someone that they could and probably should enter the exchange to look for better health care.  Doesn't state he should get better, just look for better.  Damn, I guess the exchange is doing what it's supposed to be doing, by helping show ALTERNATIVES!

Re: The Obamacare Challenge (For US Citizens only)

He said that Arby could look at what's available without signing up. He did not state that Arby "could and probably should enter the exchange to look for better health care." If he did, why didn't you quote that?

You can't shop around for alternatives without government running and ruining (even more) a huge portion of the economy? I don't think we should give away huge portions of our economy to fascist control because a small minority of citizens are too stupid and inept to shop around and buy good value in free markets.

The notion that the ACA was necessary for people to shop around is the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

Key I want people to not sign up, but instead ghost shop to see what they would have to pay.

Wow.  Spock doesn't know how to read.  And I had to quote my own self to prove it.

If he's looking then he would be shopping, whether he signs up online or offline, then the exchange is doing it's job.  If he goes online just to look, but then signs up offline, then the exchange IS doing it's job.  It's offering to show alternatives.

And i'm sure you could argue that fact, but you stating to look in the first place, shows that your position is rather weak in this subject.

First sign of confusion: You think you've found proof of evidence of something? I wonder what. Let's read on!

Could you quote where he said they "probably should"? He simply asked people to check what their rates are/would be if they signed up under Obamacare. This information lets us see whether prices are going up or down. They're obviously going up. Einstein knows that most people's rates have gone up. Einstein knows that people providing this information is evidence that the ACA is hurting people.

More evidence that you missed the purpose of this thread in its entirety.

That's what the bill is supposed to do? The bill's purpose is to show alternatives? Because people didn't know there is more than one health insurance company in the USA? The government has to run a huge portion of our economy so that people know they can shop around?

Like I said, the notion that this bill was necessary for people to shop around, which is what you're arguing here, is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. You're obviously very confused.

Re: The Obamacare Challenge (For US Citizens only)

smile  In today's "market", do you believe shopping around for a better price is a bad thing?  And to use any tool at your disposal to find that better price to be worse off?

Re: The Obamacare Challenge (For US Citizens only)

If a single payer plan at the same level of mine, without any subsidy, is cheaper than my contribution towards an EXTREMELY large group plan, then why does my employer provide insurance and cover 75% of the premium cost themselves?

Re: The Obamacare Challenge (For US Citizens only)

I'm saying that logic tells you that there's no way a single player plan can be cheaper for me, without sacrificing the quality of that plan. I don't need to actually hit the end of my dick with a tack hammer to know that it will hurt.

Re: The Obamacare Challenge (For US Citizens only)

$892/mo is the cheapest I can get that will cover my family.  That's only 4 times what I am currently paying hmm.

I am curious what my current insurance is going to go up to next year after the plan has to be alter to be Obama-care compliant?

Re: The Obamacare Challenge (For US Citizens only)

if you don't buy birth control coverage then it dies and you need a new one.

Can I get a waiver for needing birth control coverage.  I am a computer programmer and a sci-fi fan so the odds of me ever needing it are slim sad

Re: The Obamacare Challenge (For US Citizens only)

Nope. And you have to pay for substance abuse counseling and STD prescription medication coverage too. Because you should pay for the behavior of junkie whores, even if you aren't one. That's justice!

Ah, this is like distribution of wealth, but distribution of being screwed.  Seeing my social afflictions hamper my sexual adventures, Obamas Care is going to make sure I get royalty screwed over.

Thx Obama Care!

The idea is to treat everyone like children and shield them from the consequences of their actions.

Everyone we buy an abortion for, herpes cream, aids medications, and send to rehab is a supporter of the nanny state for life.

The best part for them is that they're buying votes with our money.
