Topic: How to detain new players

They need a challenge, and a promised award if they succeed. We cannot ezpect they come to play and wait to see what happens until they are attacked & abused, and hope they stay after that.

1st - When a new account is created (new player) he is informed about a contest/challenge only for new players:  He is prompted to play in a galazy (lets call it SaggiDwarf) that's a 3 man families, where he plays with other skilled players. He'll random in, and if he manages to end top 20 in size, he'll be awarded with a 2 months VIP. 

2nd - Ezplain him the VIP is normally earned by donating to the game. Ezplain him with this VIP he'll be able to draft 2 friends into his family in the nezt SaggiDwarf round. Ezplain him there's also a special galazy called "Drakus" only for VIPs. Ezplain him he'll have eztra features to the game also, ...

3rd - Tell him he should read the guide and he's allowed to play in a training galazy called "supernova" where he will learn the ropes by himself, until he decides to join his challenge at SaggiDwarf.

4th - After he completes a round in Supernova he's prompted to play in Starbust to learn about teamplay (like if he's jumped to level 2)

5th - Finally, tell him the family that wins SaggiDwarf is awarded with 50$ for any of the 3 players. And the winner of Drakus is awarded with 100$.

There's no such "SaggyDwarf" or "Drakus", nor even the promised VIP, nothing!
Everytime he tries to join SaggyDwarf he'll be told  "The Galactic Overseers have decided that you need more training in Supernova or Starbust, please join another round and come back later"


The main goal of this false promise is to get him addicted to the game in the suposed "training" gals, he'll try to be ranked higher every round to get access to SaggyDwarf to win the free VIP and he'll finally donate to buy a new VIP to be allowed to play Drakus and win the big price.

He'll feel deceived?? YES, like all of us tongue  so when he does we just send him to Stefan (the way he'll start caring about the game again?)

give people credit for the work they do...

just a thought:
titles where people can work on, and give them tiers
would be a contest on its own... legendary warrior of Supernova (reached 100 points in this tier, points gained like 1th place gets 10 points and so on)

why are you a mod? what have you done for this game to deserve suzh honor?

At least I post good ideas to help the game, no matter all of them are ignored, and thats the reason this game is dead.

Maybe you kan think of a good idea (onze in your life) to improve the game, but then you realise I proposed it before so its a NO GO.

The fact that you classify intentionally deceiving new players is one of the many reasons you have little to no credibility Render.  It really is frustrated from a moderator standpoint as every now and then you really do have a great idea, it is just hard for people to get on board with it because you spend the vast majority of your time being a trolly douchebag hmm

As a moderator I have worked on many ideas, and believe me the lack of a dedicated developer may seem frustrating to you...but when you spend the amount of time us mods do sifting through ideas, honing them, creating and maintaining dev lists, poking our head dev...it is terrible hmm

I'm a moderator because I want to see IC stay around.  I've been playing on and off for 12 years now, and I value this community and wish there was more I could do to keep it around...unfortunately what we need is a full time developer, and while in a year or so I may have the skills to actively take part, I'm not there yet tongue

then 1st of all you shouldnt be trolling aktive members of the kommunity like I am.

anyway, there's something serious in it, in the first sentenze, the new players need a challenge to keep playing, not the joke I'm talking about of kourse, but they need a challenge and some sort of reward, nobody joins a game to idle around and eventually be abused by others, they feel like a sparring.

Think Render has been here a long time so perhaps it is easier for him to feel the frustration that others.

The one word that sticks out in his post is TRAINING

Detaining players or retaining players tongue is as easy as showing new players how to play properly.

That could be done various ways.

Training galaxies don't work in my opinion, people mill through and learn little of what is to come.

Perhaps placing them in a (Training Family) in the big rounds would help.

Have a special family that new player could go into

Any experienced player will know to ask a mod to pull them out

OR

You Tube video for the win - This our game, this is how to play it, this is what things do, this is diplo screen and so on.

Yes the answers in IC are there if you delve but who wants to do that, people need TELLING / SHOWING

I say that most of us here was SHOWN how to play IC some friend or work mate introduced us to the game and most likely showed us the basics, that is how many people find IC and creating a longer term player or one who comes back for more is about teaching them in the first place.

I think no more than 5 short videos could do the job.

And so on....


How hard can it be I have a Sony HD camcorder

I think players need showing / telling how to play

Each person is different some learn by reading, other by been shown, other by watching first.

At present a new player to IC only has one option, READ AND DELVE


As for a reward system I think that could be a great idea, many years ago I suggested a medal based system.

Have say 250 different medals / little icons that can be linked to a player

Over 1000 Fighters
Over 100000 Fighters
Over 1000000 Fighters
Over 2000000 Fighters
And so on

Top NW Player
Top NW Family Member
Most Attacked In Family

Whatever really.... Sadly would take a massive amount of changes sad

But sure training people would be a start
