Topic: Randoms / 24 Hour Race Change:

When you random into a family after SOR should that random be able to change "Change Empire Settings" for a further 24 hours so they can adapt the race to what that family needs rather than pot luck.

Re: Randoms / 24 Hour Race Change:

RareUK, for the first 48 hours if they contact a mod the race, empire name and ruler name can all be changed. It has been so for a fair while now. Refer here

Re: Randoms / 24 Hour Race Change:

I know you can smile but would it not be better to give that option to a fresh random?

I know you can change empire setting before SOR

But when a random comes in late in round they can't.

Just thought a 24 hour window on "Change Empire Settings" for new randoms would help, maybe.

Need a race changing in my fam actually big_smile

Re: Randoms / 24 Hour Race Change:

Disagree Rare.  The reason it works with mods working with people to get things changed is that we are able to make sure their is no abuse of the change.  If someone has done any opping or attacking outside of the family, changes are not allowed.

Example as to how your idea would be abused:
Someone randoms into a family Camaar, that someone knows what they're doing.  They quickly get transports built and fleets out to multiple enemy planets utilizing the speed bonus.  They then change their race to wardancers, enabling them to utilize the attack bonus and warcry.  Once attacks are done, they go back to camaar.

Clever never thought of that angle, hmmm shame there is not a way round that.

Re: Randoms / 24 Hour Race Change:

There is.

We just make it that the ability to change your race is gone, after you've explored or attacked, if its within the 48hrs.  This idea has been floated a while back, and reduces mod involvement.  Would be nice to have it automatic - but, tbh, its a bit of a low priority atm.
