Agreed that this is an issue deserving some attention. Should Mods be appointed or voted-in? I am posting this as a proposal for the IC Player's to vote on at a later date.

Re: Modship: A call to action!

why shouldn't, the ppl who pay to play and keep the game going get to vote on those they believe, can most help improve, the game?

I being first and xeno being 2nd say we vote in our mods who 3rds it ?

Nope. I say we vote a couple in that will keep us up to date more with what's happening... We wouldn't still be here without most of the current mods, over the last year or two the mods have been doing just about everything possible to improve shit around here, alot have worked, alot haven't. I think it's a bit harsh to just dismiss them like this, give credit where it's due as well.

We vote someone else in to join what's already there or we're just dooming ourselves.

Re: Modship: A call to action!

are you crazy, letting people vote in mods? turn it into popularity contests? the voting prosess alone would create so much drama that additional mods would have to be voted in, to handle the riots from the first round. and so the snowball starts rolling

Re: Modship: A call to action!

the reason why mods should not be voted in?
very simple, because this game is not a democracy.

this game is owned by stefan, and he decides what happens and how it happens, don't like it? tough cookies.

then, a due to point 1 completely irrelevant point, if you were to go by popular vote for mods, in the past people such as flint, inviltrist, PP, brom, etc would have been moderators, they had a lot of friends (sometimes newbees that still believed in their strategies, sometimes people that thought it was funny), doesn't seem like a great idea to me.
let me add to that that both flint as PP have changed significantly since 10 years ago in this game, and i do actually like them now, back then, modding them would have killed the game.

Re: Modship: A call to action!

there should never be anyone voted in to be a mod we had mods in the past abuse their powers imagine if 1 gets voted in. i think mods do a damn fine job there isnt much you can do to the game its already past the point of saving this game. honestly im surprised its lasted this long im glad that it has tho.

above everything i want to thank the current mods we have yall do a damn fine job

If your not first your last

Re: Modship: A call to action!

well i posted it elsewhere, stefan has no rights to kome here and zhange things at his will, when the mods have been keeping the game floating for years, yet he komes and sends all their job to the rezykle bin, just to put his thing.
Modteam (all the people who was there, plus volunteer developers) and the kommunity, are the REAL owners of the game, stefan just has the kopyrights, but not the morale rights.

He's like a daddy who abandons a kid, the kid is edukated and grown by others, and after the years daddy komes bak and takes him away.

Not sure you understand the concept of ownership. If Stefan wanted to he could come in one day, change the name of IC to the "Render is pro at spelling game" and rename all the systems to funny sounding german'ish words.

Talking about that the users are the REAL <3 owners of this game is a cozy and fluffy fantasy that might have a nice ring to it but... Well, no. Just no.

sad

Re: Modship: A call to action!

look they don't have to vote every mod in but give the players of this game a voice then 1 mod for the ppl voted in by the ppl who can not only talk for the ppl but for the game, and any mod voted, in has to be approved by the owner of the game of course... Mods have a free hand at doing what ever they want and should have someone keeping them honest!!! *(even the cops have cops watching them )  mods will be voted in by there friends whats about the mods now there friends got them in no?
and i am not saying the mods are doing a bad job bc there not at least these ones try and improve the game last ones i remember never did.

Re: Modship: A call to action!

Do we trust the poll system on this forum?  Can it be rigged?  Could mods please answer this?

If so voted by the players, a player strike can be enacted, which, if it lasts long enough, will force Stefan to decide whether or not he wants the game to die out of spite, or, if it is the players' demand, for the players to buy it at any price they agree upon.

No players = no game.

Re: Modship: A call to action!

There's too many brown noses for that to work lol.

Who would a player strike punish exactly? tongue There are litteraly less than 10 active VIP donations atm since most of the premium features has been implemented in the game. The only effect of a strike is less load on Stefans servers.
Not that theres gonna be a strike started by you, ever, since most of the posts you write makes one question your sanity.

But whats with the sudden rush of forcing democracy on something that clearly works better otherwise? This isnt the dessert

"whats with the sudden rush of forcing democracy on something that clearly works better otherwise? "

This doesn't make sense.  First, you don't know if how things are now currently works better than if we had more democratic system, because we've never had democratic system.

Second, there's no rush.  No rush at all.

Re: Modship: A call to action!

Stefan keeps IC alive for the following reasons:

Nostalgia

Little work for a few euro's in his pocket from time to time

It takes little space on his server

It's something to tinker with when he needs a change of pace

Modestus Experitus

Arby: A very strict mod, reminds me of a fat redneck who drives a truck around all day with a beer in one hand. I hated this guy at the start, however, I played a round in PW with him where he went as an anonymous player. Our fam got smashed up and everyone pretty much left. Arby stayed around and helped out the remaining family. At the end of the round he revealed himself.... My views on him have changed since. Your a good guy.....
