Leaked documents obtained by The Associated Press show there are deep concerns among governments over how to address the purported slowdown ahead of next week’s meeting of the IPCC. …

Germany called for the reference to the slowdown to be deleted, saying a time span of 10 to 15 years was misleading in the context of climate change, which is measured over decades and centuries.

The U.S. also urged the authors to include the “leading hypothesis” that the reduction in warming is linked to more heat being transferred to the deep ocean.

Belgium objected to using 1998 as a starting year for any statistics. That year was exceptionally warm, so any graph showing global temperatures starting with 1998 looks flat. Using 1999 or 2000 as a starting year would yield a more upward-pointing curve. In fact, every year after 2000 has been warmer than the year 2000.

Hungary worried the report would provide ammunition for skeptics. …

Jonathan Lynn, a spokesman for the IPCC, declined to comment on the content of the report because it hasn’t been made final, but said it would provide “a comprehensive picture of all the science relevant to climate change.”

Comprehensive picture of his nose firmly implanted in their arses is my thoughts. I have said politics is involved, the science is not science, and that there is no such thing as AGW.

Can be said about you Flint, and your delusion about waht is science, and what is AGW...

I also wonder why the trend since 1998 has not been compared to trends since 1990, 1980, 1970, etc? Myabe too much politics all round...

The thing is...

If you actually look at the true baseline of recorded temps.. there is so insignificant of heating for a little while, followed by a decent cool dip right now.

the Deep Ocean Heat Transferrence is about as "scientific" as Star Wars since it requires we speculate as to a thermodynamic reaction never observed, operating globally, intermittently.

It's a secret, it's everywhere, and it shuts itself off.
On the other hand, Occam's Razor says, before we explain the absence of retained atmospheric heat by imagining heat wormholes, we could believe the heat was never trapped here to begin with.

Air moves around easier than liquid.  You don't boil water in an oven, because it's inefficient and takes too long. Heating water to 220F by heating air requires you to heat the air to about 400F.  People heat water by sticking the water against the flame in a pan on the stovetop.

IF, big IF, IF you find hot sea floor water, we're all going to die.  Because as I said, it didn't come from space.  It came from the pan of the sea stuck against the stovetop of the earth's mantle, and we're seeing a resurgence of volcanic activity. Which is a known, global, intermittent, and in the case of undersea volcanoes, largely unmapped.  And on a large enough scale it destroys all aerobic life on the planet.  Google "Siberian Traps mass extinction"

The core joke of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is that of course no civilization would develop personal computers with instant remote database recovery, and then waste this technology to find good drinks.
