I saw at least a few times family members in Starburst quitting Supernova and letting other people take all their planets.  Taking 50 planets for free here and there is the biggest sort of flaw but not something with an easy answer.

It's fine like this. This should be a round where (new) players can learn about ic, in their own pace.

Aside from that, imo, it's nice to have this round, where you can chill a bit.
