53% of the vote and they are in!

The conservatives won a stunning landslide victory in Australia's national elections, capturing 53% of the vote Saturday. Conservative leaders emphasized a hard line against immigration, a carbon tax, and continual increases in government spending. This "no compromise" attitude became a key to victory.

ALP seats fell across the country on Saturday, ensuring Tony Abbott will be the 28th prime minister of Australia and have a commanding majority, holding up to 90 seats in the 150 seats in the House of Representatives.

they needed some fresh air. Its not going to be easy lunch for the new gov, problems left by previous gov are huge.

Flint: you know they are called the liberal party right? Not that Abbott is very liberal, being a bigoted close-minded isolationist.

Not that it matters, the NZLP is about to have a true liberal socialist lead the party to victory next year in our elections...
