Topic: No old map link?

The map system view is now used throughout the game instead of the old map's various views (system, planet, explore, attack, transfer, etc). As a consequence, the old map serves no purpose and is entirely gone. It was about time.


There are still many mobile devices that the map is unusable on and infact since you decided to go to this new HORRIBLE looking layout and change the map at that time again, it's back to being barely usable on computer even after it was finally getting to be decent prior to the layout.

You have now been infected with Bird flu. Good day.

Breaking news - haters gonna hate.

The new map does not work 100% on 100% of all possible devices. It, like the game itself, most likely never will. It does a good job of working on most devices though.

Similiarily, the new layout will not be favored by 100% of all possible users, and it also probably never will be.

The old map is removed so that we can move on. As long as it, and all its associated views, was still there, there would always be almost two games to maintain instead of one. Not to mention a very inconsistent game.

It doesn't work at ALL, its not that some parts don't.  You can't even use it on mobile.

If you want to lose some of the active people who have been around for the last 13 years while you were mia for much of the last 10 in favor of trying to make the game look prettier but less functional and bring back a few old players who are inactive for a few weeks till they quit again then you are doing a good job!

I agree with Testudinae.
I came back after a long break to check out the new game layout and It looks good but now I can't do a lot of things on my smartphone so If it will not solved out then the players who plays on I-phone and smartphone will quit again sad

For example: put back the oldmap, the new map doesn't work for me.
Why can't we bookmark systems or planets anymore?
When I go to planets and wanna build I can't see the "build" or "build portal" anymore because the sortout(iron, endu, octa etc) is now horizontal, before the change it was vertical and then  I saw the "build" and "build portal" button, building on mutiple planets I still couldn't do because I couldn't see the box wink

So plz change it back or at least when you change something try it out on smartphone or I-phone so it will work on the phone also and not only pc.

you are unable to station fleets instantly in a system where u have a portal, they stay hovering and only move at tik.
and then you are unable to rekall a zertain amount of stationed fleets, no button in the planet page to do it. You are forzed to use the fleet page, rekall all or nothing.

Stefan take a look at the Idea/bug section, there are still lots of issues with the new map. The old map was a way around those problems. And i agree that the old new map was way better then this new new map, i can barely use it on my laptop right now.

The 2 pieces of map formed one part, now we only have half a map basicly. The one we have now is way more frustrating then the old one. I always used the new map to look around etc, then used the old map to actually do stuff.

It's bloody impossible. Can't use the map on my device so I've had to get another player to look through & give me coordinates just to get my expos out

Okay, so Stefan has been kind enough to put this back.  He's rehashed the Old Map a little, to open up the new system and planet pages.  If you're having trouble with this, try using your default (or alternative) browsers on your phone.

It's getting too difficult to maintain two different platforms, as such, which was the need to bring everything together and consolidate on the new map (which has more features, but obviously trouble with getting it to work on some devices).

In any case, obviously there are still bugs, and it's not quite right yet (this includes the new design too).  But all of us, are still trying to help the game and improve it overall.  Noones trying to kill the game, and noones out to purposefully make playing more difficult for you.

Obviously it's not going as smooth as we'd like - but we're trying.  So yea, your patience is still appreciated and we're sorry for all the inconveniences.

how kan you say the new map has more features??  it has akzesories, a new system view and a slow loading platform in general, while the old map HAD all you needed to play and do your tik stuff fast, in both mobiles and komputers.
Now the old map has been brought bak to the new layout system and it's terrible, doesnt fit the window, goes slow as hell and the systems are opened in the new display, kome on guys, please stop teasing us, we've had enuf.

Would it not be simpler to just create an app for us mobile users with the map in it for each op system instead of trying to make the game work on all

That would be good except the changes to the old map to open up the new stuff has now broken the old map, no link for sector 1 and the map doesn't fit within the table and runs off into the background with no way to scroll.  It's actually unusable completely now.

same problem here I've been through 6 mobile browsers through the night all the same thing I can't even get the new map page to open it starts to load then the browsers just shut and I'm not even using an old phone it came out same time as the s3 and pisses all over its internet speed and picture quality. I've finally got the forum link in menu to work by using Firefox doesn't work on any other browser I've tried.

New map is awful on my macbook, there's no way I would dream of trying it on a tablet or phone are you kidding me?

Old map doesn't function correctly in chrome or safari either, I guess I'm supposed to go get another browser now.

PLEASE FIX THE MAP THIS IS RIDICULOUS

Could you describe in detail what issue you have with the new map on your Macbook? I have a MacBook Air myself, and the map works perfectly in Safari, Chrome, and Firefox. The old map is not meant to be used on desktop.

I am on a macbook aswell.

The map just doesn't scroll. I use the touchpad on laptop. I suspect this is the cause. Can't test it with a mouse tho.
This is in firefox and chrome.

Also the popup of a system can be to large. When someone has fully explored it. I can't close the system. The close system button is on the bottom of the screen. But this part is hidden under the border of the galaxy map screen. Scroll down doesn't fix it because the popup sticks to the bottom.
No idea if I can post URLs..

First off, thanks for the constructive criticism - it is very useful, but surprisingly rare.

About scrolling - for me it works fine with single finger press and swipe using the touchpad. With double finger swipe without pressing, the map zooms instead. Both Safari and Chrome, most likely FF as well. Is this the same for you?

System view being too large: I could see this happening in a small interval of window sizes (700-640px in height) before the responsiveness kicked in and shrunk it. I increased the threshold a bit now and can not see it anymore. Fixed for you? You may need to hit Reload to force your browser to refresh its locally cached CSS file.

Squirrel -  My laptop is old and has a small screen.  When i click a system in the new map it opens fine,  usually I can see the whole system unless it has more than 15 planets.  When I click on an enemy and go to send an attack I can see where I can input the amount of fleet I want to send, but the attack button is not on my screen, and when I scroll down it scrolls the map in the backgrounds and not my attack page.  Therefore using the new map I cannot send attacks.  This is really frustrating, please can we resolve this.

on my note 10.1 - latest android - i can not scroll the old map to the right - therefore I cannot  see any systems in the right half of a sector - i can scroll up and down.

Also when open a planet from a system view I must have my phone/tablet in the portrait, if i have it in landscape orientation then i cannot click any buttons  at the bottom of the planet screen

all the things are happen just like in round 6-7 when lizzy (maybe with stefan) were trying to change something to the game. so, back then they ruined like 2-3 rounds and a lot of players left IC.
now Stefan is trying to change something to the game, and with other developers (no ofence), they ruin the game again.
too bad you tried so much to get old players back, and now when they tried to play the game again and make something, you ruin it again.

this game was good (in the old days). is good now, but if you want to make some changes, leave an alternative for the players, don't ruin the game!!!
