Topic: Apple Tax evasion

For those who don't know what I'm talking about and want a 100% reliable and uncensored source:
http://english.ruvr.ru/news/2013_05_21/ … -US-taxes/
http://www.aljazeera.com/business/2013/ … 22483.html

On a more serious note it tells me 2 things:
- taxes are to high in general
- the principle of paying some taxes in one country only(often a fiscal paradise abroad)  can only be applied if there are better rules.

Let me be clear, I'm not against the principle itself. A company shouldn't pay its taxes twice. But the way its applied many small companies pay the bill instead, facing ever increasing taxes. Its a stupid policy on the long run to bleed the little entrepreneurs. In my eyes a combination of lowering taxes and some better rules of where to pay them is the best solution for this problem. EU and US should put pressure on countries with loopholes (especially inside EU itself!) and lower taxes overall with the gain.

Your thoughts?

Re: Apple Tax evasion

It tells me that government is too stupid to compete.

You can't operate as a corporation without some government agreeing you can exist as a corporation and do business. They could just charge a huge fee to do that from overseas.

Re: Apple Tax evasion

It's not tax evasion until it's illegal.

And our tax code does have several hundred loopholes....

It's considered a deductable.

They deduced, and deducted.  Now congress is trying to bring home the horses after the barn has burned down...Is Apple to fault for the Republican ticket's inability to make proper LAW?

Re: Apple Tax evasion

Big companies can't evade taxes. They're above the law.

The notion that banks and businesses own Republicans but not Democrats is retarded.

Re: Apple Tax evasion

Apple will only care if the negative publicity hurts sales. In the UK a number of companies have agreed to pay tax after receiving bad press.

I wish I could avoid paying taxes until receiving bad press, but, no, I can't do that, because I'm just a regular poor person, forced to pay taxes in advance, deducted, as it is, each paycheck; just a regular person who has to go in debt to afford basic needs and taxes, and pay interest on the debt, all for a system that doesn't work for anyone except for the rich, political elite who control and design the system so they don't have to pay their fair share of taxes for the system that benefits them - it is ABSURD.
