Topic: New Layout what do you want to see?

well since there isnt a thread yet for ideas for making the new layout better and adding some existing functions that are missing or you would like to see!

theres a whole list of new things for us players to suggest, help with and give our ideas! so instead of making thousands of threads lets keep our ideas here!


my first initial reaction is a very awsome one! everything looks great! the mobile side of things is awsome with the drop down.

a side from some color scheme changing there are some things iv noticed thus far

1 no link to forum on side bar
2 Rankings toggle on side bar? yes i do see it in the over head tool bar. under "information toggle"

my question now is are their going to be several side bars released like before? i know that was a game wide thing and quiet a few people designed them if my memory serves me right.

this leads me to a few more things

x: y:   and shows you the system


now granted its still early and i havent gotten a chance to go threw all the new buttons and check,



Is the Wiki directly linked to Pies? or is this a new one? its on ic server but i do hope you plan to incorporate pies some how? or is this more of game played based. wiki.

What I would like from the new layout is the ability to choose the old layout..sorry guys, but the new layout is a pain to me.
If not possible, a skin for the new layout that looks like the old layout would also be ok.

I'm not opposed to change in this game, but the new layout is really hard on my eyes.

Please ?

in both agent operations and magik, the agent/wizzrd kounter is by default at the minimum, please make it be default at mazimum like it was before, so you dont have to move the kounter at all in most of your ops.

family news is only akzessible in the family page, so you need 2 kliks, when sekondary funktions of the game have been moved to the sidebar. This has a little sense imo, it'd be nize to add family news to the sidebar too, or remove "settings" from the sidebar instead  (it's a funktion you dont use at all, and in kase you use it, you do it only one time)

meh... I kould be posting here & in bugs for all the day, the game is unstable, there's no way to use the map (neither the old map). I really appreziate this new look and the efforts put on it, but seriously, the game should be klosed until serious main bugs are arranged, and that's my main idea about it.  Klose the game for several days until main bugs are fizzed, then we kan get bak and report other bugs, but right now it's hard to know bekause the game is not playable at all.

the margins are too big, 5 zentimeters left and right is too muzh, you kould have muzh better view of it all if you reduze the margins to 1 zentimeter eazh.  The planets list is one of the worse views bekause there's too muzh spaze between planet and planet too, and the sidebar kould be really a "side" bar, with no margin at all.

in the new map, I'd like the ability to open a rektangle with your mouse and zoom-in everything inside the rektangle.

I'd like somebody else to pay Render to write some space warfare music for the main page and soothing music for general gameplay.

Would like to see input fields instead of sliders.
The sliders look fancy but are a nightmare on mobile devices.

This needs some attention, as currently the menu disappears, and there is no way to navigate back.

Also there is nothing that shows what fam your in, or see your current ranking.

Navigating to the ranking could use a minor tweak aswell to give it some more attention.

Makes you choose how many agent/wizz to use, but this doens influence the octa cost as far as i can see? I think it should update octa costs when you let go of the slider.

Personal log input field should be bigger, there is plenty of space.

Also there is a smaller then sign < in there that doesnt belong, right after this textarea:

The input field is resizeable.

I'll divide my post into two parts, functional and cosmetic.

Functional
•    Nothing shows up on the “Galaxy Map” page when I click “Show Grid”
•    Add an input box + “Go” button next to the “Family” button on the toolbar so you can enter a number and go right to        any family. Similar to the old Family box on Simplebar. Could also be located at the bottom how it used to be.
•    Smaller buttons under family on the toolbar for fam news and aid pages
•    For ops/magic page, default the slider to use all agents/wizards instead of half
•    Add a “Rankings” button to the toolbar
•    TONS of wasted space on large screens when you go to fam forums http://i.imgur.com/7CUTuuF.jpg

Cosmetic
•    Home screen looks awful on wide monitors http://i.imgur.com/sWwTuWk.jpg
•    “Imperial Conflict” font looks more like Arabian Nights themed than Imperial Conflict
•    “The round has not yet started” blurb on the top of the empire overview page is not centered, and there is a lot of dead space at the bottom of this page on large monitors http://i.imgur.com/MtNDs2o.jpg
•    Build building page, text boxes are much larger than necessary and the resource requirements are split onto multiple lines. IMO either put them all on one line, or go back to the old style of one line per resource. Either way is much cleaner.
•    Same critique about the multiple lines for the unit page. One line for all, or one line per resource IMO.
•    Yellow “advisor” speech bubbles are really ugly. Pick a different color?
•    Don’t really like the vertical alignment of the coord boxes on the ops pages, preferred the old horizontal alignment, but maybe that’s just me. These boxes are about 10x larger than needed as well.

thirdrock -- not everyone has a large/wide screen monitor. the format has to be made to fit "square" screen monitors also.

looking at those skreenshots, I think stephan should tell us what skreen mode and resolution he used when developing all this, or set a medium sized resolution. The old format was playable with a good view for 640*480 and a good view for 1200*800, even higher.

agree with thirdrock very strongly with adding a fam search button like before. also like ive seen before there needs to be a manual imput for building units. its frustrating on a laptop and almost impossible on a phone

I'm liking what I am seeing here in terms of changes. 

That being said, I like the old system map.  Can we just restore the old one for now?  It's highly annoying.  At least allow me to the choice to use the old one?


Now, because I am liking what I am seeing very much, I would like to propose something that would add a new dynamic to the game - make it very cool indeed... I'll post it in a new thread.

Zeno you kan use the old map, the link is in HQ (kalled empire overview now)

The old map has the same features the new one has, with the differenze they work
